December is going to be a real treat for cinema lovers with several biggies set to clash at the box office.
From Rajinikanth's "Lingaa" to Aamir Khan's "PK," check out the films that are set to dominate screens in south India.
Lingaa
The Rajinikanth starrer is gearing up for a 12 December release. The film will reportedly be released in huge number of screens in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Telangana. "Lingaa" is also set for a huge release in the United States with a screen count of 200. Complete details about the screen count are expected to be revealed only around the time of the film's release.
"Lingaa" is likely to take fantastic openings at the box office considering the star power of Rajinikanth. The film will be the superstar's first live action film in four years after his last release "Endhiran." Fans are looking forward to see their favourite star on the silver screen in his stylish avatar.
The trailer of "Lingaa" has already given a glimpse of what to expect from the film. It is likely to be a complete entertainer with all the commercial elements.
The film's shooting has been wrapped up and is expected to be censored in a few days, after which the release date will be officially announced.
"Lingaa" will be dubbed in other languages including Telugu and Hindi. All three versions are expected to hit screens simultaneously on the same day.

Aamir Khan's "PK" is one of the most-awaited films of 2014. The film is set for a grand release on 19 December. Aamir has strong fan base in south India and his films fare well at the box office.
His last release "Dhoom 3" was one of the biggest bollywood hits in south India. Following the grand success of "Dhoom 3," there are huge expectations for "PK." The film's first look posters and the teaser have triggered a positive buzz about the project, which is now expected to take grand openings upon its release.

Action Jackson
Ajay Devgn's "Action Jackson" will be releasing worldwide on 5 December. The Prabhu Deva directorial is touted to be a complete masala entertainer with loads of action and punch dialogues. Prabhu Deva has been successful in making action films and some of his hits include "Wanted," "Rowdy Rathore" and "R..Rajkumar."
On the other hand, Ajay Devgn's last release "Singham Returns" emerged as one of the highest grossers of the year.
"Action Jackson" is likely to kick off on a grand note as there are no other big releases around that period. Since Prabhu Deva is a well-known personality in south India, "Action Jackson" is expected to take decent openings in key markets like Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Karnataka.

Vaalu
Simbu's "Vaalu," which has been delayed for nearly two years, is all set to hit theatres on 24 December as a Christmas treat for the fans. The film is likely to take good openings in Tamil Nadu as the actor enjoys a good fan base in the state. However, its performance will depend on the content and whether it will fare well at the box office or not is something one needs to wait and watch.

Besides these films, there are a few Malayalam biggies like Mohanlal-Manju Warrier's untitled film, Dileep's "Maryadharaman" and Mamootty's "Fireman" that are expected to release in December.
