It’s Jacqueline Fernandez with Saif Ali Khan yet again

Mumbai: For the Hindi adaptation of the book The Devotion of Suspect X, Sujoy Ghosh has finally put the cast together. After spending a lot of time with Saif Ali Khan discussing the script at length, the two joined forces for this film.

However, the leading lady was not getting finalised for the longest time. Sujoy was in talks with both Deepika Padukone and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the role. However, Deepika cited date issues whereas the former Miss World turned it down. 

But their loss seems to be Jaqueline Fernandez’s gain. A source tells us that she has now been finalised as the leading lady opposite Saif. The film will be a romantic thriller. The book has already been adapted into Japanese and Korean films respectively. A project in Hollywood is being planned. 

Jacqueline and Saif have earlier worked together in Race 2. As for Sujoy, he will be working with Jackie again after Aladin in 2009, in which he had given her a break. Sujoy met her recently and talks have reached the advanced stages. Now we can confirm that Jacqueline has given her nod to the project.

'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil': After Aishwarya Rai, Ranbir and Anushka, Karan Roped in Saif Ali Khan

Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" will have an interesting cast with Saif Ali Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

If reports are believed to be true, then Saif Ali Khan has joined the cast of KJo's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil".

A few months back the director-producer met Saif and narrated the story. The "Happy Ending" actor liked the story and agreed to do the film, according to reports.

"The film was offered to Saif a few months back. Karan met him and narrated the story. Saif, at that time, was also going through other scripts and was evaluating his options. Karan's love story caught his attention and after a while he got back to Karan saying he has liked it," Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying.

"Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" will be Karan's first project with Anushka and Aishwarya Rai, while with Ranbir and Saif, it will be his third project.

Karan had produced "Wake Up Sid" and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" starring Ranbir and "Kal Ho Na Ho" and "Kurbaan" starring Saif.

Meanwhile, the shooting of "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" will start by mid-2015 if everything goes well. Karan and Saif will meet again and discuss the shooting schedule soon.

"Karan and Saif will meet again soon to discuss the other logistics and the shooting schedules. Karan is aware that Saif is apt for the role and if all goes well, the shooting should begin mid-2015," the source added.

The storyline will be based on relationships, heartbreaks and love and the shooting will take place in New York, London, Paris and New Delhi. The film will hit screens on 3 June, 2016.

'Happy Ending' 6 Days Box Office Collection: Saif Ali Khan Starrer Set to Cross ₹20-cr Mark in First Week

Saif Ali Khan's latest outing "Happy Ending" continued to do average business at the Indian box office on Wednesday. Its collection is likely to cross ₹20 crore in the domestic market in the first week.

Despite getting the much-need hype, promotion and large-screen count "Happy Ending" opened to an average response on Friday and collected only ₹3.75 crore at the domestic box office on the first day. The film showed growth on Saturday and Sunday, but it was not up to the mark. It collected ₹4.25 crore on the second day and ₹5 crore on third.

Having collected ₹13 crore in the first weekend, "Happy Ending" showed more than 50% drop with its collection reaching ₹1.80 crore on Monday. The movie maintained the momentum and collected approximately ₹1.90 crore on Tuesday and ₹1.70 crore on Wednesday. It has collected a total of ₹18.40 crore at the Indian box office in the past six days.

"Happy Ending" has just one day left to conclude the first week in theatres. The film is expected to do decent business at the Indian box office on Thursday and cross the ₹20-crore mark in the domestic mark. Its collections look average when compared to Saif Ali Khan's previous release.

The first week business of "Happy Ending" is almost on par with Saif Ali Khan's "Go Goa Gone" (₹19.87 crore), but does not match his last release "Bullet Raja", which had collected ₹34.91 crore from lesser number of screens in the domestic market in its opening week.

Made on a whopping budget of ₹50 crore, "Happy Ending" will recover around 40% of its production cost from its theatrical run in the first week. In its second week, the movie will face off with new releases such as "Hum Hai Teen Khurafaati", "Sulemani Keeda", "Ungli", "Zed Plus" and "Zid", which are sure to take a toll on its collection in the domestic market.

Box Office Collection: 'Ambareesha' Outperforms 'Happy Ending' in First Weekend in Bangalore

Darshan's 'Ambareesha' has stolen the limelight in its first weekend and outperformed Bollywood movie 'Happy Ending' at the box office in Bangalore.

The Kannada movie has made above ₹ 8 crores in its opening weekend in Bangalore. On the other end, 'Happy Ending', which was supposed to attract urban audience, performed below expectations in the Garden City. As per the trade reports, the Hindi movie has not even raked in half of what Darshan's film has earned in the opening weekend.

'Ambareesha', which features Priyamani and Rachita Ram in the female lead roles, had made above ₹ 3 crores on the release day. The Kannada film was released above 200 screens in Karnataka. The response remained almost same in the following days and helped the film collect ₹ 8 + crores in the first weekend.

Despite getting negative reviews, the Darshan's flick made good business. The success of the film in its first weekend undoubtedly goes to his huge fan following.

Whereas 'Happy Ending', which features Saif Ali Khan, Govinda and Ileana in the leads, could not get the start that it was expected to get. The Hindi film has reportedly made ₹ 14+ crores in the first weekend in India. The good promotions too seem to have failed to draw audience attention and this was reflected at collection centres in the first weekend.

But the good news for the makers is that the film has got a good word-of-mouth and this factor is expected to boost the collections of the film in the coming days. In case of 'Ambareesha', the Kannada film's collections are expected to come down due to the negative word-of-mouth.

As far as the occupancy is concerned, "Ambareesha" had above 80+ occupancy in major theatres in Bangalore in the first weekend. But for "Happy Ending", the Hindi movie opened to just 15 percent occupancy and managed to cross 20% in the next two days.

Box Office Collection: Saif's 'Happy Ending' Disappoints; Shah Rukh's 'Happy New Year' Still Running

Saif Ali Khan's "Happy Ending" has disappointed trade experts with its opening weekend business and the romantic comedy film has turned out to be a huge disaster at the domestic box office.

In its opening weekend "Happy Ending" minted only ₹13 crore from Indian markets. The film collected approximately ₹3.75 crore on opening day. On second day, the business of the film improved, giving a hint that the film could have a good opening weekend, but the collection remained steady on Sunday.

The opening weekend breakup of the film is: Friday ₹3.75 crore, Saturday ₹4.25 crore and Sunday ₹5 crore.

The three days total of the film is disappointing as Saif's previous film "Humshakals", which had received negative reviews, fared better than "Happy Ending".

The film was expected to earn decent revenue from multiplexes than single screens, but it failed to do so. The occupancy didn't improve in metro cities during the weekend, which affected the collection drastically.

The rom-com features Saif in double role, Ileana D'Cruz and Govinda in important roles. The film garnered positive to mixed reviews from critics.

Happy New Year

Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" is still running in its fifth week. The musical heist drama earned approximately ₹30 lakh in its fifth weekend, according to Koimoi.com. The lifetime nett collection of "Happy New Year" now stands at ₹203.30 crore.

The collection dropped in fourth week and fifth weekend due to new releases. The film, also starring Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Boman Irani in lead roles, is expected to wrap up its business by this week.

Meanwhile, "Happy New Year" has become highest grossing Shah Rukh's film in East Punjab beating "Chennai Express" record, according to Box Office India.

'Happy Ending' 2-Day Box Office Collection: Saif Starrer Picks Up, Mints ₹9 Crore

Saif Ali Khan-Ileana d'Cruz's "Happy Ending" has witnessed growth on the second day at the domestic box office.

"Happy Ending" had a slow start on the opening day by minting ₹4 crore. The film, however, picked up on Saturday, 22 November by minting ₹5 crore on the second day. The film's two-day collections amount to ₹9 crore at the domestic box office, reported Koimoi.

The romantic comedy entertainer noticed growth in urban centres on the second day, while its business had been on the lower side in single screens, the website stated. The Saif starrer has been getting positive reviews from the critics as well as from the audience, which is likely to boost its performance on Sunday. "Happy Ending" is expected to end the first weekend on a good note. It needs to be seen as to how the film fares during the weekdays.

Saif has been going through a lean phase with his last two films, "Bullett Raja" and "Humshakals", failing to fare well at the box office. It remains to be seen if "Happy Ending" will be able to perform well and emerge as a hit at the box office. The film is expected to have an open run at least for two weeks as there are no other big releases until 5 December when Ajay Devgn-Sonakshi Sinha's "Action Jackson" hits the screens.

Directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, "Happy Ending" is said to be a spoof of romantic comedy entertainers.

The film has Saif and Ileana playing the lead roles, while Govinda appears in a pivotal role. Kalki Koechelin and Ranvir Shorey are also part of the film's cast, while Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor Khan appear in cameos.

Govinda, who made a comeback to films with the recently-released "Kill Dil", has won accolades for his performance as a film star in "Happy Ending".

The music is composed by Sachin-Jigar duo, while the project is produced by Illuminati Films.

Box Office Collection: 'Happy Ending' Loses out to 'Ambareesha' on First Day

Saif Ali Khan starrer Hindi film "Happy Ending" opened to a lukewarm response at the box office. The film clashed with Kannada movie 'Ambareesha' in Bengaluru and lost out to the local movie on the first day at collection centres.

"Happy Ending" was released in about 2,000+ screens worldwide. In Bengaluru, the Bollywood movie had a massive 130+ shows on the first and second day. But the movie performed below average as much attention was taken by 'Ambareesha', which is the biggest Kannada release of this month.

A theatre owner, who has observed the response for both the film, says, "Naturally, a big Kannada movie always performs better than an average Hindi movie in Bangalore. But in case of "Happy Ending" and "Ambareesha", the Sandalwood movie is a clear winner because it did better despite having lesser number of shows than the Hindi movie in its own backyard."

"Happy Ending" had about 20% occupancy in Bengaluru on the first day, whereas "Ambareesha" had over 80% occupancy.

"Ambareesha" opened to 80 shows in Bengaluru. Even at the box office, the Kannada movie has outperformed "Happy Ending". While the Kannada movie made more than ₹1.25 crore in this region alone, Saif's film did not mint even half of what Darshan's film earned in Bengaluru.

Darshan's Kannada movie made more than ₹3 crore on the release day, as per the trade circles in Karnataka. On the other end, the early reports suggest that "Happy Ending" has earned just over ₹4 crore in India, which is far less by Bollywood standards for a star movie.

However, we should note that the Hindi movie garnered mixed reviews and it is expected to perform better on Saturday and Sunday. But for "Ambareesha", the future seems bleak following the negative audience feedback.

'Happy Ending' Opening Day Box Office Collection: Saif Ali Khan Starrer Fails to Beat 'Humshakals' Day 1 Record

The opening day box office collection of Saif Ali Khan's "Happy Ending" wasn't happy at all. The film had an average occupancy on day one and it minted approximately ₹4 crore from domestic box office.

"Happy Ending" features Saif, Ileana D'Cruz and Govinda in the lead roles. The film got mixed reviews from critics, but audience appreciated it.

However, the same wasn't reflected in its business. Despite having a positive word of mouth, the opening day collection remained low.

The morning shows occupancy was low and it did not show much growth in evening and night shows. The first day total of the film is in the same range as Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor's "Finding Fanny" despite the Saif starrer having a wider screen count.

The film is mostly being targeted at urban centric audiences and hence it performed well at multiplexes compared to single screens. Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and other metro cities performed better than other circuits.

The film might do well during the weekends, but the poor opening day collection will affect the final first week total.

The first day earning of "Happy Ending" is worst than Saif's last released "Humshakals". Sajid Khan's directorial comedy film featuring Saif and Riteish Deshmukh had received negative reviews and word of mouth, but still the film managed to earn ₹12 crore on day one.

Trade experts, exhibitors and distributors on Friday said that the overall occupancy of the film is very disappointing.

"#happyending is good at sme parts, bt overall dissapoints, weak direction by raj&dk, Govinda & saif both are ok bt nt exclnt.." Rohit Jaiswal, owner of RJ Films, Exhibitor and distributor from Kolkata, tweeted.

"Multipx aprx 20%, single scrns 12% avg ocuupancy fr #happyending, sala ye november mahina rula dega humlogo ko no sale, all exibitrs in loss," he tweeted.
