Saif Ali Khan's latest outing "Happy Ending" continued to do average business at the Indian box office on Wednesday. Its collection is likely to cross ₹20 crore in the domestic market in the first week.
Despite getting the much-need hype, promotion and large-screen count "Happy Ending" opened to an average response on Friday and collected only ₹3.75 crore at the domestic box office on the first day. The film showed growth on Saturday and Sunday, but it was not up to the mark. It collected ₹4.25 crore on the second day and ₹5 crore on third.
Having collected ₹13 crore in the first weekend, "Happy Ending" showed more than 50% drop with its collection reaching ₹1.80 crore on Monday. The movie maintained the momentum and collected approximately ₹1.90 crore on Tuesday and ₹1.70 crore on Wednesday. It has collected a total of ₹18.40 crore at the Indian box office in the past six days.
"Happy Ending" has just one day left to conclude the first week in theatres. The film is expected to do decent business at the Indian box office on Thursday and cross the ₹20-crore mark in the domestic mark. Its collections look average when compared to Saif Ali Khan's previous release.
The first week business of "Happy Ending" is almost on par with Saif Ali Khan's "Go Goa Gone" (₹19.87 crore), but does not match his last release "Bullet Raja", which had collected ₹34.91 crore from lesser number of screens in the domestic market in its opening week.
Made on a whopping budget of ₹50 crore, "Happy Ending" will recover around 40% of its production cost from its theatrical run in the first week. In its second week, the movie will face off with new releases such as "Hum Hai Teen Khurafaati", "Sulemani Keeda", "Ungli", "Zed Plus" and "Zid", which are sure to take a toll on its collection in the domestic market.
