Saif Ali Khan's "Happy Ending" has disappointed trade experts with its opening weekend business and the romantic comedy film has turned out to be a huge disaster at the domestic box office.

In its opening weekend "Happy Ending" minted only ₹13 crore from Indian markets. The film collected approximately ₹3.75 crore on opening day. On second day, the business of the film improved, giving a hint that the film could have a good opening weekend, but the collection remained steady on Sunday.

The opening weekend breakup of the film is: Friday ₹3.75 crore, Saturday ₹4.25 crore and Sunday ₹5 crore.

The three days total of the film is disappointing as Saif's previous film "Humshakals", which had received negative reviews, fared better than "Happy Ending".

The film was expected to earn decent revenue from multiplexes than single screens, but it failed to do so. The occupancy didn't improve in metro cities during the weekend, which affected the collection drastically.

The rom-com features Saif in double role, Ileana D'Cruz and Govinda in important roles. The film garnered positive to mixed reviews from critics.

Happy New Year

Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" is still running in its fifth week. The musical heist drama earned approximately ₹30 lakh in its fifth weekend, according to Koimoi.com. The lifetime nett collection of "Happy New Year" now stands at ₹203.30 crore.

The collection dropped in fourth week and fifth weekend due to new releases. The film, also starring Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Boman Irani in lead roles, is expected to wrap up its business by this week.

Meanwhile, "Happy New Year" has become highest grossing Shah Rukh's film in East Punjab beating "Chennai Express" record, according to Box Office India.
