Ajay Devgn's starrer "Action Jackson" is the first big release of December month. Trade pundits are expecting big numbers from action film "Action Jackson" as it features Ajay and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles and is directed by Prabu Deva.
The film is expected to beat the opening day as well as lifetime collection records of Ajay's last release "Singham Returns".
But will "Action Jackson" leave up to trade analysts' expectations this week and beat the records? Here are few reasons why the film will be disappointing analysts with its box office performance.
"Action Jackson" is Ajay's second film of the year, after "Singham Returns". But surprisingly, the buzz of Ajay's latest release is not as strong as "Singham Returns".
"Singham Returns" directed by Rohit Shetty was released on 15 August, and it had a bumper opening. The buzz of the film was so strong that it even shattered the opening day record of Salman Khan's "Kick".
Even the songs of "Singham Returns" became popular, especially the item song "Aata Mazhi Satakli". However, compared to "Singham Returns", "Action Jackson" songs are not that popular except for "Keeda" and "Masti Masti".
There is a big difference in the screen counts of both the films. "Singham Returns" was released in 4000 screens worldwide, while "Action Jackson" will release in 3600 screens on Friday.
Furthermore, releasing a film during a festive season helps the box office collection. "Singham Returns" was released on Independence Day holiday, which helped it gross the highest opening day figure, until the release of "Happy New Year". But "Action Jackson" is not releasing during festive offs.
If reports are to be believed than Ajay is playing a double role in the film. But this year almost all the films which had the lead actors playing double roles and triple roles have flopped at the box office, including, "Happy Ending" and "Humshakals".
So it remains to be seen whether the audience will accept Ajay in a double role in the film. But overall, it looks like that the start of December month at the box office will be low.
