Yamaleela 2 is the sequel for the movie made after 20 years. S.V. Krishna Reddy, one of the senior directors of Tollywood, known for his decent family entertainers made this possible. He made a sequel to one of his career biggest hits “Yamaleela” which came way back in 1994. After twenty years, Krishna Reddy chose to make a sequel to make his presence felt in Tollywood. Lets see if “Yamaleela” served the purpose for him.
Story:
Krish (K V Satish) a happy go lucky guy falls in love with Anandi (Diah Nicolas). Due to certain circumstances both start working on the cure of Leukaemia. In this process, Anandi gets to know the secret in Sanjeevani herbs in Kerala. After successful testing at Continental college labs, the herbs in Kerala get destroyed by a sudden fire in forest. To find the herbs, Krish leaves to Manasasarovaram. But things turn around when Chitragupta believes him and gives Bhavishyavani to a human being to rescue Yama from drowning (I know its funny). Krish finds the secret in the book and gets away from Manasasarovaram, starts working on the remedy. Brahma takes away the powers and Yama – Chitragupta starts searching for Krish. At the end of the end, Will Krish find the cure? What makes him so be so curious to find the cure for Leukaemia? Can Chitraguptha and Yama be successful in retreiving the “Bahivsyavaani” from the human ?makes the rest of the story.
Performances :
Only two characters in the entire flick paid off well. And undoubtedly, those two are Yama and Chitraguptha, played by versatile hero Mohan Babu and ace comedian Brahmanandam respectively. These two hold the tempo of the film right from the beginning to the end. Without these two, “Yamaleela-2″ would be definitely a time waste stuff to watch for a couple of hours. Thanks to their timely performances, which made us to say few good things about this flick.
Satish KV performance is absolutely mediocre. Horrible body language and awkward facial expressions makes him a very poor artiste at the end of the day. It was clearly visible that he did not get prepared well for his debut performance.
Debutant actress Diah Nicolas has nothing much to do except to burst out emotionally and of course smile sweetly at the main lead. Sadha is gorgeous in the “Hai Haigaa” song and another actress Nisha Kothari is all-right in another track.
Senior actors like Kota Srinivasa Rao, Rao Ramesh and Ashish Vidyarthi fulfil the expectations of their roles. And coming to the comedians Thagubothu Ramesh, Gabbar Singh gang and Posani Krishna Murali don’t have much to do in this part.
Analysis:
Due to the lack of pace in the narration, despite of a good start , one might feel bored in the middle. The film comes to life but periodically and the narrative is paced rather lethargically which is surprising as a film like this should have been one hell of a roller coaster adventure. As it is, it is nowhere near so.
While a combination of romance, fun and fantasy in an underdog tale, Masala is too hard to resist for a Tollywood director S V Krishna Reddy, his faulty execution of the already flawed script (even if we leave the logics aside)… That’s make it such a disappointing experience. Majority percentage of the audience might feel its not worth their ticket.
Technical aspects:
The problem with Yamaleela 2 is its slow paced narration; several cringe worthy moments and too many songs. Do we still need 6 or more songs in each film? What a waste of time and money. Visually film is very appealing with vibrant colours, cinematography is good. CG effects in the film are fine and the Art work must be appreciated. The editing was just as unclear and perhaps you can’t spill the blame on the editor as Krishna Reddy presents us one sloppy show that’s such a let down. Fights in the film are very middling. Production values of Krishvi Films are solid.
Final Verdict:
After delivering such a big hit long back, one would expect Krishna Reddy to give a much better sequel. But finally, Krishna Reddy has disappointed everyone big time. With a weaker story line, slow narration, improper screen play and too many songs, SV Krishna Reddy has givem the audience enough reasons to cry over “Yamaleela-2″ .
To conclude , just watch it on small screens rather than wasting your money and time watching in theaters. Its not advisable to watch it even once, if you really don’t want to lose you impression on the original ” Yamaleela” . Better you get that DVD and watch it once again.
