Review : Mukunda

Story :

Mukunda Film begins a small rural town in a Godavari region. A Political leader Rao Ramesh have two daughters, commonly his elder daughter loves her classmate, he is a low caste guy. Varun Tej as a friend of Rao Ramesh’s Daughter Lover, Varun Tej saved his friend from Rao Ramesh goons and from after he is going to against Rao Ramesh. Pooja Hedge as Rao Ramesh’s Younger Daughter, Varun Tej and Pooja Hedge love story bigin, this love makes Rao Ramesh more anger. Before the interval the small suspense in this love story.

Varun Tej saving his and his friend life fromt he goons, After that he decided to damage Rao Ramesh political life. Prakash Raj entrance as selfless social worker. Varun Tej giving support to Prakash Raj and he push Praksh Raj to nominate against Rao Ramesh. Varun Tej teamed up with his friends and entire you of town against villanious politicians. Prakash Raj win in the elections, Movie end with a good youthfull message.

* Debutant Hero Varun Tej is going to be the cynosure in the film.

* Prior to this film, Varun Tej has under gone training in acting skills under the supervision of Satyanand who trained his uncle Power Star Pawan Kalyan.

* Gorgeous Actress Pooja Hedge is the special attraction in the movie.

* Srikanth Addala, who attracted the audience with the movies ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ and ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ is the director of this movie.

* The movie is jointly produced by Tagore Madhu and Nallamalapu Srinivas on Leo Productions banner.

* Noted film-maker Sekhar Kammula is reported to make a cameo appearance in the film.

* Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj, Nassar and Brahmanandam are playing other key roles in the film.

* The film was initially titled as Gollabhama. But, the makers changed the title as Mukunda Murari in early August 2014. However, on Janmashtami, the makers renamed the film with final Title as “Mukunda”.

* The movie was initially scheduled for a Sankranthi release in January 2015. However, the release was advanced to 24th December 2014 as a Christmas feast to the audience in order to avoid clash with Pawan Kalyan’s “Gopala Gopala”.

* Apart from Hyderabad, the film was predominantly shot in Andhra Pradesh at various places like Rajahmundry, Bhimavaram and Amalapuram, as well as at Cochin and Alleppey in Kerala and at Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu.

* The film was awarded an ‘U/A’ certificate by Central Board of Film Certification.

* The film’s overseas theatrical distribution rights were acquired by Asian Movies and CineGalaxy, Inc.

* The Audio of Mukunda released recently, created a huge buzz and have got overwhelming response from the audience. Sirivennala Seetharamasastry’s meaningful lyrics and Mickey J Meyer’s melodious tunes made them a huge hit.

* The soundtrack features 6 songs in total. Aditya Music acquired the soundtrack rights in August 2014 for an undisclosed high price.

* The theatrical trailer of Varun Tej’s launch pad was colorful and vibrant. Varun created a lot of excitement with his intense looks and mind blowing screen presence in the 34-seconds promo.

* A song teaser “Chesededo……” from the movie, released by the film-makers exposed the dancing skills of Varun Tej. Varun managed to score decent marks with his dance moves.

* A Special Screening of ‘Mukunda’ has been arranged on last Sunday. This special show has been watched by the members of the Mega Family including some Directors, Producers and Writers as well. This movie has garnered very positive response from all of them.

“MUKUNDA” the upcoming Telugu film Written and Directed by Srikanth Addala. Mega Prince Varun Tej and Pooja Hegde as the Lead roles. Rao Ramesh, Parkash Raj, Nassar and Brahmanandam were seen in supporting roles. Mukunda was the debut film of Varun tej as a volleyball player with Pooja Hegde as his love interest. The film was produced by Nallamalapu Srinivas and Tagore Madhu jointly under the banner of Leo Productions. Music was composed by Mickey J Meyer continuing his association with Srikanth addala after Kotha Bangaru Lokam and Seetamma vakitlo sirimalle chettu while V.Manikandan was the director of photography.

‘Sekhar kamula’, the famous director whose is well known for his movies Anand, Happy Days and Leader and others had a Cameo Appearance in the movie. After Anand as an auto driver now he will be seen for the second time in Srikanth Addala’s Mukunda. The film Completed all censor formalities & it was awarded an ‘U/A’ certificate by Central Board of Film Certification. Mukunda was initially scheduled for Sankranthi release but now it has been preponed to be released worldwide on 24 December 2014.

Chandrakala Movie Review:“Chandrakala” came up with the negative shades of gorgeous beauty Hansika Motwani. Unlike her previous flicks, Hansika was seen in a horror related avatar in this venture. As this showed a different version of Hansika, huge expectations are clouded on this flick. Read on to know whether Hansika lived up to the expectations or not.

Story:

Chandrakala (Hansika Motwani) is actually a soul trapped in a bungalow. A family comes to their ancestral house and they feels like selling it for good money. Interestingly, strange things starts happening inside the house and few people will encounter death. Few family members will try to probe into this issue and solve the mystery. Finally, Chandrakala who is the soul which is creating these troubles will enter into a human body of one of the family members. The rest should be seen on the big screen.

Performances:

This flick offered a different role to Hansika and her efforts to live up to the expectations was seen well on screen. Sunder too can be appreciated for his acting skills in this flick. Kovai Sarala, Vinay, Manobala were all fine. Few situation looked interested as per the expressions and acting point of view while few scenarios made audience feel bored about it.

Technical Aspects:

Technically, this flick’s story looked a bit routine. People have to go to check the way the director created suspense inside the story and the way the director showed the scary things. Story turned out to be a weak point as majority of the previous ventures too came up with similar backdrop.

Screenplay too could be better and cinematography was fine. Editing, background score and dialogues were all on the edge. On an average, the flick could have concentrated more on elevating the technical aspects.

On an average:

As there are no big Telugu flicks on board in this week, ‘Chandrakala’ will surely be the choice for the audience to watch in this weekend. Of course, it came out to be a thriller and horror ventures but it lacked the real punch on the silver screen. It may attract youngsters for a while but for family audience, this flick may not look that great. Year ending and lack of competitors may make this venture move ahead at the box office in this weekend and the next week.

'Aamayum Muyalum' Movie Review: Yet Another Priyadarshan Movie Meant for One-Time Watch

"Aamayum Muyalum" directed by Priyadarshan turns out to be the remake of his Bollywood "Malamaal Weekly". The film is a comedy entertainer starring Jayasurya, Innocent, Nedumudi Venu and Pia Bajpai in the lead.

The story of the movie has all typical elements of Priyadarshan movie with many characters that are weaved with a lot of complications. In fact, the movie looked like Priyadarshan revisiting his previous movies in a lighter mood and is a relief from his last outing, "Geethanjali"

"Aamayum Muyalum" is set in a poverty-ridden village of Gowlipady and the plot revolves around an incident that happens in the village. The village is completely under control of a rich land lady, who is inconsiderate about the poor state of people in the village.

Kashi played by Nedumudi Venu is a lottery dealer of the village and is the only person in the village who knows to read and write. Innocent plays Nallavan, another important person in the village and Jayasurya plays Kallu, who is in love with Nallavan's daughter Thamara (Pia Bajpai). Mamukoya plays the role of Jayasurya's father in the movie.

The story of the movie begins when one of the villagers wins the lottery and how the life of the whole village changes soon after this. In their hunt to get the lottery money, each character of the movie ends up in more and more troubles. The villagers try all their luck to get what they desire and this forms the crux of the story.

"Aamyum Muyalum" has somehow managed to keep the interest of the audience from starting till the end, but lacks depth in the script. The story is peppered with some fun elements. However, do not expect a laughter-filled script that has a smooth flow.

Though, the makers mark Jayasurya as the lead, the film is completely taken away by Innocent and Nedumudi Venu with their screen presence. The veterans have carried the movie on their shoulders and impressed the audience with their comic timing and antics.

Sukanya's character as antagonist is a rip-off of Sukumari's character in "Thenmavin Kombathu", but the actress has done justice to the role. Anoop Menon, has done a delightful cameo appearance in the movie as Vijay Nambiar. Jayasurya has also done a decent job with part, which was given to him and the lead actress Pia Bajpai has nothing much to do in the character that was given to her.

The rest of the star cast that includes Mammukoya, Nandu, KPAC Lalitha, Kochu Preman, Harishree Ashokan, Edavela Babu and Ambika has also done their part well.

The most noticeable aspect of the movie is the cinematography by Divakar Mani and editing by Ayyapan Nair. Both have done commendable job, which make the narration of the movie a pleasing one. The background score and the music of the movie were also decent enough.

To conclude, "Aamayum Muyalum" is a one-time watchable flick if you go without much expectation.

'Cousins' Malayalam Movie Review: A Poor Attempt to Bring out an Entertainer

The first impression that you get from "Cousins", directed by Vyshakh, is the fact that it rarely manages to engage audience. The movie, which is touted as a comedy thriller ends up being a highly predictable movie with the least comic experience.

The storty of "Cousins" revolves around four cousins, Sam (Kunchacko Boban), Joji (Indrajith Sukumaran), Pauly (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and Tony (Joju George). Sam suffers memory loss of six years of his college life after a brutal accident. The film begins when the cousins take a journey to Sam's past to revive his memory after doctor's recommendation and they end up in Chandragiri Palace.

Four cousins are welcomed by some dark truths about Sam's past and learn that there are some serious reasons behind Sam's accident. They also realise that Sam had a girlfriend Arathi (Vedhika), who was apparently the heir of the palace. With the help of Arathi's cousin, Mallika (Nisha Agrawal), the cousins set out to find the truth about Sam and his past.

The first half of the movie has nothing to offer in terms of entertainment or plot. The main story of the movie in fact begins only by the second half. Just when you think the movie is gaining momentum, the director in a way chose to spoil the flow of the movie by imbibing some unwanted characters and forced comedy dialogues, which of course failed to create any laughter in the theatre.

In terms of performance, Indrajith stands out among the lead actors with his impeccable acting skills and Kunchacko Boban has given out a decent performance. The characters of Suraj and Joju looked out of place. Inclusion of the Kalabhavan Shajon to add comic element failed miserably and felt irritating at times. The other characters including the female leads did not have much to do in terms of performance.

Song sequences of the movie also did not contribute much to the storyline and were placed poorly. The background score by Gopi Sundar sounded out of place.

The good aspect of the movie would be the cinematography, which managed to visualise the movie in the best way possible. The art direction of the movie was commendable and added to the rich look of the movie.

To conclude, "Cousins" failed to meet the expectations with poor scripting and a highly predictable storyline.

'Pisasu' Tamil Movie Review: Audience Live Response

Mysskin is back with "Pisasu". The director's last movie "Onayum Aatukuttiyum" did not live up to the audience's expectations and so he wants to return to his good form with the latest flick.

"Pisasu" is a horror-thriller produced by ace filmmaker Bala. This combination has made people wait for its release. The movie features Naga, Prayaga Martin, Harish Uthaman, Radharavi, Kalyani Natarajan and Kani Kusruti. The flick has Arrol Corelli's music and Ravi Roy's cinematography. Gopinath is the editor of the movie.

The Tamil movie explores different aspects of the supernatural world. The director wishes to give spine-chilling moments to the audience in this less-than-two-hour film. Prayaga will be seen in the role of a ghost in "Pisasu".

Woohoo... PK is finally here and boy was I excited to watch this masterpiece on the big screen. After five years of sheer hard-work Rajkumar Hirani presented us with yet another cinematic brilliance, PK. 80% of the credit goes to the director for spinning this innovative concept into such an entertaining movie. 

The movie has it all, a good plot, script, depth; an out of the box film with a strong message.

Story:

Much had been debated about the film's plot. Is PK an astronaut, is he an alien or is he a con artist? What is PK movie all about? Much till the screening of the film, the plot had not been revealed, so this may come as a surprise to you, but PK is not an out and out comedy film like how it has been portrayed till date.

The film has a lot of hilarious and fun moments but the hidden social message is what PK is all about. In a way you can say the movie is a satire on God and God fearing men. But it is unlike any typical Bollywood movie based on the same concept as Hirani has ensured to provide us with utmost entertaining experience with this movie. 

The plot of the movie starts with Jaggu (Anushka Sharma), a journalism student in Bruges, Belgium. After finishing her studies, she decides to return to her hometown in India where she comes across PK (Aamir Khan), a unique and peculiar boy who is fascinated with the many things that happen in our society for he has never seen another human being in his life. His wacky dressing sense and lifestyle is a result of his philosophies, like "There is an ATM on every bridge" or "In every isolated area is a clothing store, wear whatever you like".

PK is different and as a result has several questions in his mind which happen to intrigue Jaggu as well. Both of them set out on this journey to find the answers to all his questions, which forms the crux of the story. 

Now to know what roles Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Saurabh Shukla play and to know what relation they have with "Namuna or Sample", as Jaggu lovingly calls PK, you have to go watch the movie buddy! 

Performances:

I know I am just stating the obvious but Aamir Khan does steal the show with his tube-light eyes and saucer ears, his funny Bhojpuri accent and his weird character that stands out in the film. There are truly no words to describe his performance and like his daughter and Sachin Tendulkar said, this is his best performance till date. 

Anushka Sharma too has essayed her charismatic but cute journalist role well. Her love chemistry with Sushant and friendly chemistry with Aamir has been balanced really well.

Boman has a short and sweet role which he has done justice too, even Sanjay Dutt's guest appearance is worth the watch but we don't approve of Sushant's short role in the movie and yearn for the opportunity to see him more. 

Technical Aspects: 

The story-line of the movie is captivating and there is not a dull moment in the span of 2 hours and 33 minutes. Hirani sneaks upon on you through plenty surprising moments. 

The music has been composed by Shantanu Moitra, Ajay-Atul, Ankit Tiwari and Ram Sampath, who have all done a brilliant job with the songs, they stay on your mind and are in perfect sync with the story-line. 

The dialogues by Abhijaat Joshi and Rajkumar Hirani are funny and entertaining too. The crisp narration keeps us engrossed in the movie. All in all there is not much to complain about but a whole lot of aspects to praise.

Verdict: 

PK movie is all that you anticipated, a paisa-vasool entertaining movie that will enthrall you for sure. PK is a must and should theater watch, so book you tickets soon and catch the movie on the big screen.

Lingaa enjoyed highest expectation for any Tamil cinema before its release in spite of being bombarded with many legal issues. The film, over the last few months not only increased the anticipation level among Indian movie goers but had also managed to induce excitement amid foreigner's. So what does the most anticipated movie has to offer?

Well, to begin with there couldn't have been a better treat for all Rajinikanth fans on his birthday for the movie focuses entirely on the Superstar. Though the movie carries a predictable plot, KS Ravikumar's brilliant story telling skills induces a fresh dimension to the movie.

Story:

Raja Lingeshwaran(Rajinikanth) is a rightful heir to a famous dynasty that once ruled most parts of Southern India. Though he belongs to the royal family, Raja Lingeshwaran graduates as a civil engineer who also goes on to become Madurai's collector as per his father's wish. When Britishers takeover after abolishing the traditional Indian ruling system, drought wrecks havoc in a small village to which Raja Lingeshwaran is transferred as its new collector. 

Raja Lingeshwaran takes up the initiative and requests the Britishers to build a much-needed dam that would serve well for the people. But his idea is opposed citing a political reason and hence he leads from the front and inspires each and every villager to take up the responsibility to build a dam for themselves without seeking help from the foreigners. He also takes care of the monetary issue by taking up the expenses to build the dam. 

In spite of facing many deadly hurdles from people with evil intentions, the dam is built successfully. However, after many years(present day) the hard work of an entire village is put under danger by a corrupt MP played by Jagapati Babu, the main antagonist 

An old man from the village, played by legendary director-actor K Vishwanath gets to know that the only way to save the village is by opening lord Shiva's temple situated near the dam after almost 75 years which was also built by Raja Lingeshwaran. But since the villagers believe only a heir of Raja Lingeshwaran should open the temple, Rajinikanth(Lingaa), who is the grandson of Raja Lingeshwaran, comes back to the village to open the temple. Why the temple has to be opened? What danger has befallen on the village forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Rajinikanth shines throughout the movie and carries the entire film on his shoulders. His performance as a responsible king and modern person is appreciable. Anushka has done a wonderful job in her role as reporter and the other leading lady Sonakshi impresses the audience with her expressions. Santhanam is good as always with his witty one liners and his combination with Rajinikanth has worked wonders.

Technicalities:

Randy's camerawork is brilliant and has managed to capture the essence of Karnataka's scenic beauty. Apart from showcasing Rajinikanth no more than a 40 year old, his collaboration with the colorist has worked well as there is seemingly significant difference in visuals between two different time periods. Sabu Cyril, as a production designer has done a fantastic job in presenting visually appealing sets. Though the set designed for 'En Mannava' song reminds us of Sivaji's 'Vaaji Vaaji', he manages to score lots of points in other aspects. AR Rahman's background score is brilliant as usual. Special mention goes to the make-up artistes and designer Nikhaar Dhawan who has tailored Rajinikanth's costumes in a simple yet stylish manner.

Analysis:

KS Ravikumar choose a 'Pre-Independence & Post-Independence' subject inspired from the life of John Pennycuick for his reunion with Rajinkanth after 15 Years of All-Time Blockbuster 'Narasimha'.

AR Rahman's songs were passable but background score is exceptional. Ratnavelu's cinematography is flawless. Sabu Cyril's art direction is fabulous. Dialogues are excellent. Fights could have been better. Editing is not upto the mark. Production Values are fantabulous.

The plot resembles some of Rajini's past movies and it's predictable to say the least. A lot more intensity and gripping narration could have created wonders though. Of course, Rajini entertains with his trademark styles throughout the course of the movie. 'Lingaa' pleases all those die-hard Rajinikanth Fans to some extent but don't expect it to be anywhere close to 'Narasimha'!

Box Office: 'Lingaa' is certain to take an earth-shattering opening as advance booking for the Weekend has been fantastic. In all possibility, It is expected to be biggest opener ever for a South Indian Film. But, Will that be enough to rewrite 'Robo' records?

'Ra' Review Round Up: A Decent Effort by Youngsters to Bring Out A Tamil Horror Film

Tamil horror movie "Ra" has got mixed response from critics.

The Prabhu Yuvaraj-directed film starring Aditi Chengappa, Ashraf Baby, Yuvina, Geetha Babu, Jayanth, JP Jay, Lawrence Ramu, Ravi Prakasham and Redhika was released on 5 December.

The story of the film revolves around Ajay (played by Ashraf) and Ranya (played by Aditi) who elope from their homes and get married with the help of friends. However, under mysterious circumstances, Ranya is found dead on the morning after their marriage. Heartbroken, Ajay seeks the help of a psychic to help him get in touch with Ranya's ghost. 

But soon, frightening things begin to happen at their house, typical of horror films. The door refusing to open, chair rising in the air, his bedsheet is pulled away while he is sleeping, and so on. However, the sub-plots do not join to the main plot, say critics. "It's a bit like a dull student copying parts of the same answer from several classmates," says one critic.

Most of them felt the film has an interesting first half, which fails to carry on in the second half. They opined that the effort by the film's makers to make it different did not reflect in the narration as well as in the script that is filled with clichés of a horror movie.

On the upside, the film scores in cinematography, colouring and editing, as also the background music by Raj Aryan, according to other critics.

"In their apparent eagerness to step away from the usual, the makers end up providing unsatisfactory answers. There's the omniscient 'scientist' (usually a priest in horror films), acting as a deus ex machina, and there's the mandatory twist at the end... but all of this only complicates things further. There's no one main plot that unifies all the sub-plots."

"Finally, it looks like horror films in Tamil are coming of age. Ra is essentially a haunted house thriller but the writers Ashraf and Prabu Yuvaraj (the hero and the director of the film respectively) introduce an element of fantasy that gives it a different colour. And, their treatment isn't kitschy in the least bit and the director whips up a genuine sense of dread (Hollywood horror films 'Insidious', 'Stir Of Echoes' and 'Dead Silenceare' listed in the titles under filmography.")

"Technically 'Ra' stands out and it won't be an exaggeration to say that the cinematography and music in Ra is in par with some of the so called big budget films which are made in Tamil cinema. Saravanan's angle selection and colour tone are fabulous while debutant Raj Aryan has given a stunning background score and hummable tunes just like a veteran composer's work."

"Performances are pretty decent. Hero Ashraf although appears a little 'un'heroic in initial shots, we get used to him slowly and he is fairly convincing in most frames. Aditi Chengappa looks ravishing and fresh but sadly she does not have much screen time for the audience to revel in her beauty. Friend Lawrence Ramu who is also doubling up as the lyricist of the film has done his part well."

Story:

Sai (Naga Shaurya), a happy-go-lucky guy, falls in love with Lakshmi (Avika Gor) who was already engaged to a man of his Father's Choice. How did the Protagonist convince the Girl's Father and at the same time win the heart of his Lady Love forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Naga Shaurya: He is able to leave a mark of his own in every film irrespective of the commercial success and that's gonna take him a long way. Handsome Avatar and Acting Prowess earned him good craze among the youth and family audience. He doesn't disappoint his target audience in this movie as well.

Avika Gor: She plays a Girl-Next-Door Role and her character is different from what she has done in 'Uyyala Jampala'. This Serial Actress improved a lot when compared to her debut flick but still need to focus more on histrionics. 

Rao Ramesh as Heroine's Father impresses with his dialogue delivery and mannerisms. Rest of cast including Vennela Kishore, Saptagiri, Kasi Viswanath, Naresh and Satyam Rajesh played their part well.

Analysis:

Director Nandhyala Ravi choose an universal plot to cater to wider section of audience. He, however, failed to maintain the required pace in the narration in the latter half though the First Half is entertaining. The only saving grace of 'Lakshmi Raave Maa Intiki' were Naga Shaurya's performance and highly impressive dialogues.

K Radhakrishna's music is pretty decent but Background could have been better. Cinematography is neat. Editing isn't upto the mark in Second Half. Production Values are good.

Box Office: 'Lakshmi Raave Maa Intiki' released in good number of screens due to 3 Reasons - Naga Shaurya's recent track record, Availability of hundreds of theatres because of dull Box Office in the past few weeks and Naga Shaurya-Avika Gor's combo. All these factors even contribute to decent openings but will that be enough to find a break-even! 

Verdict: Falls Short Of The Border Line!
