Rajat Kapoor, who has given some fine performances in movies like DilChahtaHai, Bheja Fry, Dasvidaniya and AnkhonDekhi, to name a few, says that he enjoys direction a lot more.
Rajat, who has directed critically acclaimed films like AnkhonDekhi and plays like Nothing Like Lear, was in Vadodara recently. He shares, "I have enjoyed acting in the films that I have done. However, I enjoy direction more because as a director, I feel I can express myself completely. Besides, whether it is for my films or plays, I have been lucky to have had the privilege of working with some fantastic actors. For instance, it has been a real delight to work with VinayPathak, who is a very dear friend too. For the future, I have done a film called X as an actor, which has several filmmakers collaborating for the project.
As a director, I have three scripts ready and will start working on my next film around January." Asked about his fascination for clowns in his plays, Rajat says, "I think a clown is a very pure being, who comes across as someone without any social baggage and it is easier to convey powerful emotions through them. Even my next play as a director will be with clowns."
