Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain", which was expected to release on 2 October, might not make it to theatres on the slated date.
"Uttama Villain" shooting is completely wrapped up and the post production work is going on in full swing. In a recent interview to OnlyKollywood, "Uttama Villain" director Ramesh Aravind had stated that the film involves a lot of VFX work and it is expected to be released in around ten weeks.
"There's lot of VFX work in the film. We are currently working on it. I'm hoping it should be out in about ten weeks from now," he told the website. This could mean that the film will not hit the screens in October. The buzz is that the Kamal starrer might release on actor's birthday, on 7 November. However, an official announcement regarding the release date is still awaited.
"Uttama Villain", deemed as a comedy drama, was expected to clash with Hrithik Roshan's Hindi film "Bang Bang", which is slated to hit the screens on 2 October.
The action-packed entertainer will be released in three different languages, including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Hrithik has a huge fan following in south India and his films perform well at the box office. His last release "Krrish 3" turned out to be a big hit in Tamil Nadu.
The makers of "Bang Bang" reportedly planned to have a wide release for the film. The film would have faced strong competition if it had clashed with "Uttama Villain", as Kamal is a big South Indian star and his film would have grabbed more number of screens in TN.
With the latest reports, "Bang Bang" team might target booking more screens in TN. However, the film will not enjoy a solo release in the state as two Tamil films, including Jiva's "Yaan" and Vemal's "Oru Oorla Rendu Raja" are also releasing on Gandhi Jayanti.
Directed by Siddharth Ananda, "Bang Bang" is reportedly the official remake of Hollywood flick "Knight and Day." The Hindi film will have Hrithik and Katrina Kaif playing the lead roles.
