"Daawat-e-Ishq" starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra has received mixed reactions from critics. The lead actor especially Chopra has done a commendable job, but it's television actor Karan Wahi who managed to steal the limelight.
Even veteran actor Anupam Kher has impressed critics with his acting skills. But the predictable storyline disappoints reviewers.
The film is directed by Habib Faisal and produced under Yash Raj Films banner.

Mohar Basu of Koimoi.com said: "Daawat-e-Ishq is a disappointing recipe of love. Quite like its story, the film thugs you into believing it's all about lofty, delicious, gourmet cinema. Sadly it's none of those and not even close. When the story doesn't work, nothing about the film can work, not even the performances. The film doesn't even rise up to be a passable watch.
"It is an excruciating bore lacking the fundamental thrill factor. Predictable and mediocre, Daawat-E-Ishq is the not a film Aditya, Parineeti and mostly Habib Faisal can pass for posterity."
Sneha May Francis of Emirates 24/7 said: "'Daawat-e-Ishq' is the story of how the spunky Gullu takes on the world for not allowing her to live her American dream, by punishing "men" for it.
"'Daawat-e-Ishq' could've been savoured had Habib stuck to treating our tummies instead. Alas, it's not as indulgent as the kebabs or biriyanis, or firnis that we were served occasionally."
Piyasree Dasgupta of Firstpost said: "Despite being written and directed by Faisal, who wrote that warm cupcake of a film Do Dooni Char, Daawat-e-Ishq tries to root itself in a similar, realistic universe of realism, but with a few Bollywood accents.
"Much worse than Faisal's take on Section 498A is Daawat-e-Ishq's ending, which has everything from ghastly action choreography -- clearly the one thing that Parineeti Chopra cannot do is do fight scenes -- to corny dialogues."
Divya Pal of IBNLive said: "What makes #DaawatEIshq special is the fact that it revels in the culinary art. Interval. It is enjoyable so far, but the screenplay does get predictable.
"#DaawatEIshq gets interesting as #AdityaRoyKapoor tracks down #parineetichopra in the lanes of #hyderabad"
Rohit Khilnani of India Today said: "Daawat-e-Ishq may not be a perfect film but it's an adorable love story and the two young actors make it paisa vasool. Go for it because the taste is just right!"
