Ajay Devgn's "Singham Returns" has entered the top 10 list of highest grossing film of Bollywood beating Salman Khan's "Dabangg".
Post third weekend, the box office collection of "Singham Returns" has dropped significantly. But the film managed to beat the lifetime total of "Dabangg" (₹138.88 crore) at the domestic box office.
The overall domestic box office collection of Rohit Shetty's directorial film now stands at ₹138.91 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.
The film had a good first week run, but in second and third week the business declined due to the release of "Mardaani" and "Raja Natwarlal" respectively.
In the coming week, the business is expected to decline further as Priyanka Chopra's "Mary Kom" is set to release.
Nonetheless, "Singham Returns" managed to become the second highest grosser of 2014 after "Kick". The film is now expected to settle down with a lifetime business of around ₹140 crore.
Mardaani
Rani Mukherji's action thriller remained decent at the box office over the second week. With positive word of mouth, the film has managed to survive at the box office.
In 12 days, the action thriller directed by Pradeep Sarkar has minted around ₹29.55 crore.
The collection remained steady in second week due to tax free status and also the poor performance of "Raja Natwarlal". But it remains to be seen how the film will manage to earn in its third week as "Mary Kom" is set to fight with old releases.
Raja Natwarlal
Emraan Hashmi's film "Raja Natwarlal" continues to fare poorly in India. The film has so far minted ₹22.53 crore from collection centers.
The film failed to hit the right chord with audience and hence it has fared poorly. Hashmi's film generally does well in single screens, but "Raja Natwarlal" failed create that magic.
"It has earned ₹11 crore in the first two days. It is quite low. It should cross ₹20 crore in a week," exhibitor Rajesh Thadani told IANS.
The film was made on a budget of ₹35 crore and was released in 2000 screens. But due to average review ratings the collection failed to pick up. The budget amount is huge and the domestic earning has not even reached ₹30 crore total.
Looking at the first week's performance of "Raja Natwarlal", it is quite evident that the film won't be able to earn its production just from domestic nett earnings.
