Superstar Mahesh Babu's latest outing Aagadu has been creating positive buzz in the media, ever since Dookudu fame director Srinu Vaitla announced it. Its music and promos have soared up the viewers' curiosity sky high. Its makers' unique promotional strategies have added lot of hype to this project, which has released in a record number of screens across the globe today (September 19).
Aagadu, It was directed by srinu vaitla and produced by ram achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara under 14 reels entertainment. Starring Mahesh babu, Tamannah, Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam, Sonu sood, Brahmaji, Nassar, Thanikella Bharani, Nadiya, Vennela Kishore, Raghu babu, Posani Krishna Murali, Shruti Hassan (Item Song) etc.
Music Composed by S.S.Thamann. Cinematography handled by K.V.Guhan while Editing handled by x. Movie completed its censor formalities on 15th September,2014 and received U/A rating by Censor board. Movie all set to releasing worldwide this friday.
Story
Coming in to the story, Shankar (Mahesh Babu) is an orphan groomed by Raja Rao (Rajendra Prasad). But Raja Rao mistakes Shankar on one occasion and drives him out of the house. Shankar later becomes Encounter Specialist Shankar and gets posted in Bukkapatnam where the atrocities of Damodar (Sonu Sood) is skyrocketing. Damodar wants to build a power project there and goes on elimination spree on those opposing it. Shankar later comes to know about a shocking truth which turns professional rivalry in to personal too. What happens next is the rest of the story.
Performances:
Mahesh Babu did his best, his dialogue modulation was great, he carried the whole movie on his shoulders, he tried to entertain his fans with some fast dance moves, needless to speak about his looks, he looked manly in police outfit.
Tamannah: except for two, three scenes irritated most of the times with over action, her dance moves were good.
Others: Vennela Kishore was wasted, Nazer tried to bring in some laughs along with Mahesh Babu, Posani is the main pillar for the first half, his Potugadu episode entertained, Sonu Soodh was okay, Brahmanandham bought in few laughs towards the climax, especially in the dance spoofs but his comedy was not as expected, others were just there.
Technicians:
Music: Songs were good on screen, Junction lo stands out to be the best of the lot, after a long time Thaman gave the best background score, he complimented dialogues well.
The camera work was neat, Editing was okay, nothing to complain about, Production values were great, the fights were worst.

Aagadu is a high-octane action movie with a high comic quotient and Mahesh Babu's electrifying performance is the main highlight of the film. Srinu Vaitla's engrossing screenplay and punch dialogues, SS Thaman's trendy songs and amazing background score, KV Guhan's beautiful picturisaion, some rib-tickling comedy scenes, Tamanna's glamour, Shruti Hassan's item number, wonderful choreography of action and dance, exotic locales and beautiful art direction and costumes. The lack of a fresh in the storyline is the biggest drawback of the movie.
For Aagadu, Srinu Vaitla has chosen a routine revenge drama, which has been penned by Anil Ravipudi, Upendra Madhav and Praveen Varma, but he has written an interesting screenplay. The director is known for his unique comedy and punch liners and he has made sure that they are the USP of Aaagdu too. He has included all the commercial ingredients and has amazing grip on the narration of the movie. Aagadu opens with Mahesh Babu's stunning entry with a punch dialogue.
There is no much growth in terms of story in first half of the movie, in which MEP game show is the main highlight. A couple of romantic songs and a host of comedians keep you entertained in this portion. A couple of twists just before and after the interval gain moment for the film. The second half has a story, but it is routine and predictable. Moreover, it is not as entertaining as the first half. The climax is good. A host of comedians like Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam, Nassar, Rao Ramesh, MS Narayana, Vennela Kishore, Raghu Babu and Posani Krishna Murali keep tickling your funny bones throughout the movie Aagadu. Sonu Sood, Brahmaji, Nadhiya, Tanikella Bharani and have also done justice to their respective roles.
Shruti Hassan's item songs is also one among the big assets of the film. Aagadu has brilliant production values and SS Tamana's music is the main highlight in the technical front. His soundtracks have already become chartbusters. His background score is awesome and it elevates several scenes. KV Guhan's cinematography is fantastic and it is another highlight of the film. The choreography of action and dance sequences is simply superb. Other technical departments have also delivered fantastic works.

Final word: Aagadu is watchable movie, it has few good comedy scenes and Mahesh’s name written all over, don’t expect Dhookudu, go with low expectations. “Content weak ga unnappude publicity peaks lo untadhi.”- dialogue in the film, perfectly apt for the situation.
Overall, Aagadu has rich performances by lead actors and superb production values, but the movie lacks a fresh and interesting storyline. It is a routine revenge drama that rocks you with its mass elements. It's a good time-passer for this weekend. Don't miss it.
