Inspired by the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge", Malayalam superstar Mammootty has kick started a new campaign called "My Tree Challenge".
The actor began the campaign by planting a sapling with an aim to make the world a greener and better place to live.
He has now nominated Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Tamil superstars Suriya and Vijay to take up the challenge.
"As you all know 'ALS Ice Bucket Challenge' is being viral online and offline media. I proudly kick start a novel concept called 'My Tree challenge'. I request all my friends from the Malayalam Film Industry and all Facebook friends to join in for the good cause and make this world a greener place to live in. I challenge Shah Rukh Khan from Bollywood, Vijay and Surya from Tamil Film Industry to plant a sapling and join this Eco revolution," Mammootty posted on his Facebook page.
The "Munnariyippu" actor also added the importance of planting a tree at this time of urbanization, as it has many benefits, including filtering the contaminated air, recycling of water, reducing the soil erosion among others. He also went on to remind other advantages like creating an ecosystem that is suitable for birds and other forms of life surrounding it.
The actor also urged to make efforts to plant trees whenever and where ever possible and to inspire family, friends and neighbours to save the resources for the future generations as well, which nature has bestowed us with.
"The campaign "My Tree Challenge" is not just a slogan to speak or to listen. It is a motto which should be followed by all so as to save our nature for ourselves and our upcoming generation. Hence, it is also a great opportunity for people who have always wanted to be 'a part of a healthy environment. Let's be a model to the children in respecting our nature and environment. Our world is precious and we are meant to keep it that way," the actor added.
Recently, Mammootty also initiated another social media campaign called "Addicted to Life" in association with the Kerala State Beverages Corporation.
"Addicted to Life" is a year long campaign aimed to curb the usage of drugs and to create awareness among the youths in colleges and schools.
Meanwhile, the new campaign "My Tree Challenge" has been already taken up by the fans of the superstar.
Now, one will have to wait and see whether Shah Rukh, Suriya and Vijay will take up Mammootty's challenge.
