The ALS ice bucket challenge fund-raising drive has gone viral the world over and Bollywood celebrities are no exception to the fund-raising sensation. Apparently Indian tennis player Sania Mirza was among the first of celebs to take up the challenge and further nominate her friends - Riteish Deshmukh, Mahesh Bhupathi and Yuvraj Singh to take up the challenge.
Thereon many celebrities have taken up the challenge and have posted their videos online and in turn nominated at least three of their friends or colleagues. Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha are among the latest entrants in the list. We take a look...
Akshay Kumar completed the challenge and further nominated wife Twinkle Khanna, Ashvini Yardi, Salman Khan and Johnny Lever. "Here's my ALS ice bucket challenge! Now it's ur turn Twinkle Khanna, @AshviniYardi ,@BeingSalmanKhan & Johnny Lever," he tweeted.
Sonakshi Sinha wasn't challenged by anybody, but the actress took the challenge herself and tweeted, "Nobody nominated me. But i still took the challenge. And now i nominate you ALL to do what i just did. If you've already showered, skip the ice water. If you havent, go ahead by all means. BUT please Go to www.als.org to donate."
Riteish Deshmukh who was challenged by Sania Mirza accepted the challenge and further challenged Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sidharth Malhotra, Pulkit Samrat and Ashish Chowdhary. South actress Hansika Motwani took the challenged and in turn challenged all her fans to do the same.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States that works for raising funds for patients of a motor neuron disease called Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease. It went viral throughout social media during the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2014. The challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads. A common stipulation is that nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation.
