Rajinikanth-starrer much-awaited Lingaa is getting more screens in Telugu than Tamil, say trade sources. More than a straight Telugu flick, it's having a bigger and wider release. But having more screens in Telugu than in Tamil is definitely an irony and the issue to be looked upon.

With Lingaa occupying chunk of screens, small-ticket Telugu films have been backed out of race with insufficient theatres and most of Telugu producers are compelled to push their releases (Saheba Subramanyam, Ee Varsham Sakshiga) to Saturday and next week. If reports are anything to go by, the movie is going to be released in 3000 plus screens on Dec 12, on the eve of Rajini's birthday. Apart from AP/Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, the movie is releasing in US, UK, Canada and Japan  in over 1000 plus screens. Meanwhile, Eros International is planning to release the Hindi version for Christmas (Dec 25) with same aura. Needless to say that it's a grand arrival of Superstar after his disastrous show of Kochadaiyaan.

The approximate screen count is as follows:

Andhra Pradesh/Telangana - 750 plus

TamilNadu - 600 plus

Kerala - 250 plus

North India - 375 plus

Karnataka - 200 plus

Overseas - 1000 plus
