"Memu Saitam – We Love Vizag," a collective initiative by Telugu film celebrities to raise funds for Hudhud cyclone victims was held on 30 November. As part of the initiative a 12-hour telethon was organised involving the members of the Telugu film fraternity.
Industry veterans, senior actors, youngsters and other celebrities from the Telugu film industry gathered under one roof to make the event a grand success.
Check below some of the highlights of Memu Saitam
Kabbadi Match: The kabbadi match between the Manchu brothers, Vishnu and Manoj, offered lot of entertainment to the audience.
The match was held at Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Manoj captained the Red Panthers team, while Vishnu led the Black Tigers team. Veteran actor Mohan Babu was the referee for the match. Comedian Brahmanandam's funny antics were one of the highlights of the kabbadi match.
Manoj's team won the match scoring 26 points.
Cricket with Stars
Four teams led by stars including NTR, Ram Charan, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh took part in six-over matches at Kotla Vijaybhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda.
The first match was held between Nagarjuna and NTR's team and was won by Nag team. The second match was held between Venkatesh and Ram Charan team, which was one by the former team. The final match between Venkatesh and Nag's team was reduced to two overs a side. Nag's team, captained by Akhil, won the tournament beating Venky's team.
Antakshari
Telugu film celebrities including Venkatesh, Chiranjeevi, Rajasekhar, Ali, Jayapradha, Jayasudha, Jeevitha and sadha took part in the antakshari game show hosted by singer Mano. There were four teams led by these actors and they played seven rounds. The celebrities offered lot entertainment with their singing and dancing.
Mahesh Babu-Trivikram-Samantha Talk Show Samantha interviewed Mahesh Babu and Trivikram for the talk show. During the interview, Mahesh took questions on various topics including "Kaththi" remake and being voted as the most desirable man online. The actor also spoke about Pawan Kalyan, Suriya and Vijay. During their conversation, director Trivikram stated that he would a film with Mahesh in 2015. The full interview has been uploaded on YouTube.
Devi Sri Prasad Music Show Music composer Devi Sri Prasad performed on stage for some of the hit numbers. Allu Arjun and Ravi Teja joined also joined him and entertained the audience with their dancing skills.
Industry veteran rock the stage
Some of the industry veterans including Ragavendra Rao, Shyam Prasad Reddy, Allu Arvind and Kodi Rama Krishna rocked the stage shaking a leg when they were invited on the stage by singer Baba Sehgal.
Dine with Stars
Some of the lucky fans got an opportunity to dine with the stars as part of the "Memu Saitam" initiative. It was held on 29 November at JRC convention hall in Hyderabad. Several film stars including Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya, Samantha, Lakshmi Manchu and Allu Arjun among others attended the event.
Besides these programs, several dance shows, music shows and skits were organised as part of the initiative. The 12-hour telethon witnessed active participation by Telugu film celebrities as they joined hands to raise funds for a cause.
As the event neared an end, a cheque worth of ₹11,51,56,116 crore was given to AP Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu for the relief measures. Speaking on the occasion, Naidu lauded the efforts put in by the Telugu film industry people to raise funds for rebuilding vizag.
