Teasers play a significant role in boosting the hype surrounding a film. It has become a trend of sorts for teasers of big films to easily surpass the 10 lakh mark (one million) within few hours of its release.
This year, film teasers of popular actors including Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Suriya, Dhanush and Rajinikanth have managed to garner grand response from the fans. A couple of them have even set new records in terms of viewership and audience 'liking.'
From the recently-released "Yennai Arindhaal' teaser to "Lingaa," check out some of the Tamil film teasers, released this year, which turned out to be huge hits among the fans.
'Yennai Arindhaal'
The film's teaser, which was released on 4 December, has taken the Internet by storm. The video has fetched more than 2.5 million views and over 62,000 likes so far. The Ajith starrer has set a new record in terms of number of likes received on the video-sharing site, YouTube.
According to reports, "Yennai Arindhaal" teaser has become the most-liked Indian teaser this year (till now). It has beaten Hrithik Roshan's "Bang Bang" teaser, which has fetched 61,429 likes on YouTube.
The hashtags, #MostLikedIndianTeaserYennaiArindhaal and #YennaiArindhaalTeaserStormOnDec4, have been trending on Twitter. The teaser has received tremendous response from them and it is expected to surpass the five-million mark soon.
'I'
Vikram's magnum opus "I" created a new record when it surpassed the one-million mark within 12 hours. The film broke the record set by "Bang Bang", which achieved the feat within 13 hours. "I" also became the first South Indian film to receive more than 8 million hits for its teaser on YouTube.
'Lingaa'
"Lingaa" teaser grabbed eyeballs, thanks to the presence of superstar Rajinikanth. The teaser went viral within hours of its release on YouTube. The video crossed one million views in less than 30 hours.
'Kaththi'
"Kaththi" teaser is one of the most-popular videos of the year. The teaser fetched good response from the fans and it has got more than two million views.
'Anjaan'
The teaser of "Anjaan" became an instant hit among the audience thanks to Suriya's presence. The video, showing a stylish-looking Suriya received grand response, from the fans and it fetched one million views in less than 48 hours. It has so far got more than 3.5 millions on YouTube.
'Anegan'
The official teaser of Dhanush's "Anegan," which was released in October, has crossed the one-millon mark. The video has generated good buzz surrounding the film and fans are eagerly looking forward to its release.
Besides these films, the teasers of "Jigarthanda", "Velai Illa Pattathari," "Naan Sigappu Manithan," "Maan Karate" and "Kaaviya Thalaivan" had received good feedback, though they failed to cross the one-million mark.
