The first-look poster of Gautham Karthik's upcoming movie, "Rangoon", is released. The poster introduces Gautham, who is clad in lungi and gives an intense stare.

The shooting of the film has also begun on Thursday and is directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, who had assisted ace film-maker AR Murugadoss in "7am Arivu" and "Thuppakki". The news of the shooting was disclosed by the director on his Twitter page.

"Thanks 2 my Guru, Producer @ARMurugadoss sir. Shoot begins with @Gautham_Karthik & key cast,mrng.Need al ur blessings!" tweeted Rajkumar.

AR Murugadoss, who is the producer of the film, shared news about the directorial venture by his former assistant. He had previously produced films like "Engeyum Eppothum" (2011), "Vattikuchi"(2013), "Raja Rani" (2013), "Maan Karate" (2013) and "10 Enradhukulla" (yet to be released).

The makers revealed that the upcoming movie is a fictionalised version of a 25-year-old's real-life experiences.

"For any person, the first 25 years of his life are a lesson. This film will be something to look forward to for Gautham. I chose him for my film as his look and age exactly fit the profile of the lead character of my script," said Rajkumar to The Times of India

Meanwhile, Gautham seems to be excited about the film.

"Rangoon first day shoot today. Excited to be part of a new project with a new team!!," wrote Gautham on his Twitter page

Gautham, son of Tamil actor Karthik, who made his debut in Mani Rathnam's "Kadal", was much appreciated for his performance in the film. He also won many awards for his debut performance including Filmfare Awards, Vijay Awards, Edison A wards, V4 Entertainers Film Awards and SIIMA Awards. The actor is also awaiting release of his three other films including "Sippai", "Vai Raja Vai" and "Indrajith".

The makers have announced that the music will be done by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is jointly produced by AR Murugadoss's ARM Productions and Fox Star Studio and is expected to hit the theatres by March next year.
