Sania Mirza Not Interested in Cine Biopic, But Wants Deepika if it Happens
Film biopics on legendary sports personalities are nothing new but tennis star Sania Mirza, the highest ranked female player from India, does not wish to portray her life on the big screen.
The player, during the National Children's Film Festival, mentioned that she is a private person and hence, doesn't want her personal life on show.
However, the athlete also stated that if in the future she changes her mind then it should be played by none other than Deepika Padukone, reported PTI.
"I'm a private person. I don't want a film to be made on me because I don't want to share my intimate details. I'm not that kind of a person, and I have got offers for a biopic previously but I have said no," Mirza said during the National Children's Film Festival (NCFF), organised by the Children's Film Society of India (CFSI).
She added: "But if someone puts me on the spot and I have to choose, then I would want Deepika Padukone to play my role."
It now remains to be seen if Padukone, who also is a sports enthusiastic, agrees to play the part if a biopic is ever made on Mirza.
Meanwhile, Mirza, a Padma Shri awardee, is busy with her autobiography, titled "Against All Odds" and has already written 26 chapters.
On the other hand, Padukone is busy shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani" along with alleged beau Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.
Of late, biopics on popular sport-personalities have been a trend in the Bollywood industry. Recently, the Priyanka Chopra starrer "Mary Kom", on the life of Asian Games gold medalist boxer MC Mary Kom was a box office hit.
Another biopic on Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni is scheduled to hit the screens in 2015. Sushant Singh Rajput will play the Indian skipper in "MS Dhoni - The Untold Story", directed by Neeraj Pandey.
