Popular South Indian actress Padmapriya married her long time boyfriend Jasmine Shah on Wednesday. The wedding was held in Mumbai in the presence of close family and friends. The actress met Jasmine while she was pursuing her higher studies in New York.

Padmapriya had taken a break from movies to pursue her studies and was doing a research on the Economic Affairs of Public Sectors, in New York. The couple met during their research days and fell in love.

Jasmine, who hails from Gujarat is currently working as the Associate Director of Policy at Jameel Poverty Action Lab, South Asia, a research centre at the Economics Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is working at New Delhi centre of the organisation. Jasmine is also a graduate from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs and holds M. Tech. and B. Tech. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras.

As per the reports, the entry to the wedding event is strictly controlled and the media will not be allowed to enter the venue to cover the wedding ceremony.

Padmapriya was born to Tamil parents Brigadier Janakiraman and Vijaya in Delhi and was brought up in various cities of Andhra Pradesh following her father's postings. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and had won the title of Miss Andhra Pradesh in 200. She made her debut in movies in the year 2003 with Telugu film "Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi", which was the remake of Kalabhavan Mani's "Vasanthiyum Lakshiyum Pinne Njanum". Following this, Padmapriya made some well acclaimed performances in Malayalam, Tamil and Bengali movies.

Padmapriya made her Malayalam debut with the movie "Kazhcha" opposite Mammootty in 2004, which won her Asianet Film Awards for the Best Female New Face of the Year. For her debut Tamil movie "Thavamai Thavamirundhu" (2005), the actress won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut- South. She had also won Kerala State Awards for Second Best Actress for her performances in "Yes Your Honour" and "Karutha Pakshikal" in 2006 and Tamil Nadu State Special Award for Best Actress (2007) for her performance in "Mirugam".

Padmapriya, who was last seen in Amal Neerad's "Iyobinte Pusthakam" will continue to pursue her career in acting after marriage.
