Shah Rukh Khan recently revealed that 1,000 weeks of "Dilwali Dulhania Le Jayenge" will be celebrated in a grand manner.
"Aditya Chopra was planning something. We will take 15 minutes of unedited footage of the film. We will also watch the film together. There is lot of affection attached to the film. It's a special moment for sure. It's the second longest (running) film. I think the first was a Chinese film. Yes, we will have a celebration," IANS quoted King Khan.
Released on 20 October 1995, the Aditya Chopra directorial has been running at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai for a little over 19 years. Before "DDLJ" happened, SRK was mostly into negative roles until Chopra picked him and made him the ultimate charmer of Bollywood.
The film also featured debutant Karan Johar and Mandira Bedi in side roles. The music, composed by Jatin-Lalit, is still considered to be one of the most-loved albums in the history of Hindi cinema and has therefore been tagged by fans as timeless.
Having killed and stalked women in "Baazigar", "Darr" and "Anjaam", the actor reportedly said he was unsure if he would be able to pull off the Raj Malhotra at all. The film, which was first offered to Saif Ali Khan, went on to become the biggest hit of King Khan's career and made him the star he is today.
Interestingly, Kajol, who essayed the timid Simran effortlessly, finds it strange that the film continues to enjoy such a massive fan base even today. "That film (DDLJ) was special. That was a very nice picture. We made it with love. Fortunately for us, it turned out to be fantastic and well-loved film," IANS quoted her saying in an event last year.
This isn't surprising as "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart too have rooted for Raj and Simran. Calling SRK their favourite, Pattinson reportedly added that he has seen "DDLJ" and thinks the male lead is a charmer.
