The troubles for "Kaththi" continue to mount as the Tamil groups refuse to call off their protest against the Vijay-starrer film. The voices supporting a ban on the film or at least to delay the release are growing in number with the Tamizhar Vazhvurimai Katchi leader Velmurugan joining the protest.
Crucial Meeting
A crucial meeting with the makers of the film, Tamil groups, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners' Association, exhibitors and distributors was supposed to take place today (October 18). But it has been postponed to Sunday. Sources say that the final call on the release of "Kaththi" will be taken on Sunday. Hence, the advance bookings for the film have been put on hold in some theatres.
Theatre Denies News
However, Ram Muthuram Cinemas in Tirunelvelli has announced on its Twitter account that they have not stopped the advance booking. "Rumours spreading we stopped booking for #Kaththi. Booking is going on !! Hope it will release without any problems."
Exhibitors-Distributors Want Trouble-Free Release
As per the reports, theatre owners and distributors want to release "Kaththi" as there is a good buzz around the movie. The postponement in the release will not only affect the producer but also distributors and exhibitors, who have paid huge amount for the rights. So, they want to ensure that the movie gets a trouble-free release on October 22.
Movie Should Be Released Under New Banner
The heads of the distributors and theatre owners' associations opine that "Kaththi" should be allowed for release but not under the banner of Lyca Productions. "The movie should be released under a different banner," said a member of the theatres' association.
'Kaththi''s Troubles With Tamil Groups
The Tamil groups accuse the Lyca Productions of having business links with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is accused of massacring civilian Tamils in his war against the LTTE.

While the people in the Lyca Production have denied any link with Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Tamil Groups have refused to believe them as they claim that they have enough evidence to prove the connection between the Sri Lankan president and Lyca.
"Kaththi" Will Release In Other Parts
However, irrespective of whether "Kaththi" releases in Tamil Nadu or not, the movie will see the light of the day in other parts of India and the world. It may be recalled that Vijay's "Thalaivaa" too had faced a similar situation.
