Vijay-AR Murugadoss's "Kaththi" is rocking the worldwide box office with its impressive collections.

"Kaththi" has minted ₹82 crore in its first week and has emerged as the biggest Tamil hit of 2014 so far. The film is racing towards the ₹100 crore mark and is expected to achieve the feat in another few days.

"The film is unarguably the biggest Tamil blockbuster of the year. In its first week, it has collected a whopping ₹82 crore at the ticket window. It should touch the ₹100 crore mark by this weekend," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

"It's a rare feat because Tamil films don't have pan India release, unlike Hindi films. Moreover, the ticket prices in Tamil Nadu have a cap. Keeping all this in mind, what 'Kaththi' has achieved is truly phenomenal," he said.

The film is all set to join the league of other Tamil films including "Endhiran," Vishwaroopam" and "Thuppakki," which have surpassed the ₹100 crore mark.

"Kaththi" has created several records in India as well as overseas markets. The film became the highest day one grosser in Tamil Nadu by surpassing "Endhiran" collections. It performed exceptionally well in Kerala and Karnataka as well.

The action entertainer has done fantastic business in overseas markets as well. It has surpassed the $500K mark in the US, thus becoming the first non-Rajinikanth and non-Kamal Haasan film to achieve the feat.

In the UK, the film has reportedly beaten Kamal's "Dasavatharam" collections and it is expected to beat "Vishwaroopam" figures soon. The business of the film is strong in Malaysia and Australia as well.

While "Kaththi" (Tamil) hit the screens on 22 October, the Telugu dubbed version of the film is yet to see the light of day. The Telugu version of "Kaththi" is expected to hit the screens on 21 November. The film was initially slated for 31 October release, but it was put on hold as some Telugu producers showed interest in remaking the film.

Power Star Pawan Kalyan, who was reportedly the top contender for the film, was shown a special screening of "Kaththi." The actor is said to have liked the film, but felt that it wouldn't suit his image, reported Indiaglitz. Hence, the Telugu dubbed version is reportedly slated for 21 November release. An official confirmation on the film's release date is yet to come.
