Shahid Kapoor's "Haider" has crossed the ₹50 crore mark at the worldwide box office in nine days.
Domestic box office
In India, the film finished its first week run with ₹41 crore nett income and on second Friday it minted ₹1.83 crore, taking its overall box office collection to ₹42.83 crore.
The film had a decent first week run in India, but the collection dropped on second Friday because of new releases. However, it is expected to pick its pace during second weekend as the new release started on a dismal note.
"Haider" would cross the half century mark in India by second weekend, if the business picks.
Meanwhile, in an interview with IANS, Shahid said that he is overwhelmed by the audience's response.
"We had faith, trust and pride because it was not an easy film to make. It's been amazing so far. We were waiting for the audiences' response, but we knew it's not an out and out entertainer so this kind of appreciation from the audience is great," he said.
"I have always believed that good content will always find an audience. As an actor you have to take risk and do a film like 'Haider' and when it works, you feel cool about it."
Overseas box office
The film has performed extremely well in two places North America and United Arab Emirates, but in the rest of the circuits the collection is below the mark.
Until 10 October, the film minted ₹4.21 crore from the US-Canada box office and ₹3.98 crore from UAE box office, according to Bollywood Hungama.
Vishal Bhardwaj's directorial film underperformed in the UK-Ireland region and Australian market. From the UK, it minted ₹1.3 crore and from Australia it fetched in ₹36 lakh (till 5 October).
The worldwide box office collection of the film after nine days stands at ₹52.32 crore. The film has now emerged as a hit film as its worldwide income is more than double of its production cost.
