Ram Charan-Kajal Aggarwal's "Govindudu Andarivadele" ("GAV") has crossed the ₹20 crore mark at the AP/Nizam box office.
After taking a good opening on the first day (1 October), "GAV" has continued to hold well in the following days till Sunday. The film maintained steady business on Sunday and is estimated to have earned around ₹3 crore AP/Nizam share.
The film's five-day collections stand at over ₹23 crore share and has surpassed the first week collections of Mahesh Babu's "Businessman" (₹23 crore), Jr NTR's "Ramayya Vasthavayya" (₹22.25 crore) and Pawan Kalyan's "Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu" (₹21.25 crore). However, it has failed to surpass "Yevadu" five-day figures, which amount to ₹25.34 crore. It remains to be seen how much "GAV" earns in its first week.
Interestingly, "GAV" has surpassed "Yevadu" collections at the US box office. The film reportedly minted more than $400,000 in four days (including Tuesday premieres) in the US, while "Yevadu" had collected $345,799 in its final run, according to Indiaglitz.
Directed by Krishna Vamsi, "GAV" has Ram Charan appearing in the role of an NRI brought up in London. The film also has Kajal Aggarwal, Prakash Raj, Srikanth and Jayasudha in pivotal roles.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the songs for the family entertainer, while Ganesh Bandla has produced the film.
Ram Charan is on a roll with back-to-back successful films including "Naayak" and "Yevadu." It will be interesting to see whether "GAV" will achieve hit status and emerge in the list of Telugu films with highest share of all time. So far, three of Ram Charan's films including "Magadheera" (over ₹73.1 crore share), "Yevadu" (₹47.1 crore share) and "Naayak" (₹46.5 crore) have made it to the list of top 10 films with highest worldwide share.
"GAV" has minted ₹23.18 crore share in five days from AP/Nizam areas, according to Andhraboxoffice.
