Following the footsteps of Rakul Preet Singh, Vanya Mishra, Simran Kaur Mundi, etc., yet another former Miss India girl Sagarika Chhetri, is breaking into Tollywood. The Miss India finalist (2013) has been signed up to play the lead in an upcoming film, Friends Request directed by Aditya Om. The native of Darjeeling is playing an archeologist, in the horror comedy.
Prod the actress on how the project happened, and she says, "I gave my best shot in the audition and I got through! This is the best thing that happened to me. My life has changed drastically," explains Sagarika, adding, "I'm lucky to bag the bilingual project on my debut. It's challenging. Very few actresses get such a great opportunity and I would like to give it my best."
Talking about the role, the she says, "It's a very glamorous role. I play a fearless archeologist, Ira, who tries to uncover the nexus between social media addiction and the ghost in the movie." She is "yet to pick up Telugu", but admits knowing basic lines like "Naa Peru Sagarika" etc. "For a scene in the film I had to say a page-dialogue in Telugu. My team helped me and I'm trying hard to pick up the language and want to dub for my lines in Telugu," she says.
