Ravi Teja starrer "Power," which has hit the screens today, has fetched decent reports from the critics.
Directed by K.S. Ravindra aka Bobby, "Power" has Ravi Teja, Hansika and Regina in the lead roles. The film also has Brahmanandam, Mukesh Rishi, Sapthagiri and Sampath Raj among others. The action entertainer is produced by Rockline Venkatesh.
Plot: Baladev Sahay (Raviteja) is a corrupt, but daring police officer. He dies while trying to rescue gangster Ganguly (Sampath). West Bengal Home Minister (Mukesh Rushi) is keen to find out the whereabouts of Ganguly.
The Home Minsiter comes to know about Tirupathi (Ravi Teja), the look alike of Baladev Sahay, who is living in Hyderabad with his brother-in-law - police inspector Animuthyam (Brahmanandam). Tirupathi's aim in life is to become a police officer. The Home Minister manages to influence Tirupathi to take charge as ACP Sahay. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
Critics have termed "Power" as a routine commercial entertainer. They have appreciated Ravi Teja's performance and stated that his portrayal of a police officer is the major highlight of the film. Hansika and Regina have done their parts well, while Brahmanandam and Sapthagiri provide comic relief.
The film's first half is entertaining with comedy elements and a well-executed twist in the interval. The second half has high doses of sentiment and action.
Ravi Teja's performance and first half scenes are the plus points of the film. High emotional quotient is one of the minus points of "Power." The film has nothing new to offer and is just a typical mass entertainer.

"Power is a package of all the commercial elements and has some good songs to fall back on when the pace gets sluggish. Raviteja shoulders the film right from the start to end with his flawless performance. There are some dull moments and too routine happenings that hamper the flow of the film. But Director Ravindra throws in an occasional twist or a hero elevation scene to put things back on track," according to Gulte.
"'Power' is going to end up as an average entertainer for Ravi Teja. A strong first half is a good asset for the movie but a below par second half spoiled the overall experience somewhat," according to 123telugu.
"Director Bobby who proved his mettle as a writer with 'Balupu' and 'Alludu Seenu' enters the most crucial phase of his career with 'Power'. Right from giving Raviteja his career best look to picturization of songs & few scenes, He showed a lot of promise and has got the calibre to make it big in film industry," according to APToday.
"The 1st half after the intro is largely fun. The film moves into real story in the second and audience might feel a bit drag but it picks up from superb port sequence and ends decently. On the whole it is a good one time watch for its powerful narration & entertainment," said OM of Andhraboxoffice.
Box Office Prospects: Critics believe that the Ravi Teja starrer is likely to take good openings, however its performance in the long run might get affected if Mahesh Babu's "Aagadu", which is hitting the screens on 19 September, fares well at the box office.
