Ashutosh Gowariker's dream project "Mohenjo Daro" starring Hrithik Roshan, will soon start rolling the cameras, but ahead of the shoot, the makers had encountered a potential roadblock when the construction work on the sets had apparently halted for three days.
The members of Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union were working on the sets for more than a month, but as no payment was made to them, the members stopped working and issued a non-cooperation notice against the makers of the film.
"Our members were working on the set for more than a month, but no payment was made to them. They were not even given money for their regular expenses and we had to send our people money so that they could perform the Vishwakarma pooja on September 17." Gangeshwar Srivastava, general secretary of the union told Mid-Day.
"We were threatened with legal action if the work was stopped," Srivastava added.
On the other hand, as the workers had stalled their work, Gowariker decided to take legal action and lodged a complaint with the Indian Film and Television Producers Council citing that he has undergone financial losses as they have stopped working. He has also sought compensation for the loss.
However, Lawrence D'Souza, executive producer of the film, mentioned that the workers' cheque was ready but as the construction work is going on in remote areas of Bhuj, the amount could not reach on time.
Meanwhile, the lead of the film, Roshan, who has been busy with the promotions of his upcoming film "Bang Bang", will soon start the shooting for "Mohenjo Daro". Newcomer Pooja Hegde will be seen opposite the Bollywood hunk.
"Mohenjo Daro" is a period drama that dates back to 26th century BC. It is a love story set during the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation. The film is scheduled to release worldwide on 22 January 2016.
