Emraan Hashmi's crime thriller "Raja Natwarlal" struggled at the box office in its opening weekend. The first three days box office collection of the film stands at ₹17.4 crore.

Hashmi's film generally opens well especially in single screens, but "Raja Natwarlal" didn't fare well from Indian markets. The film was expected to have an occupancy of around 40 percent, but the film had a very slow start.

Additionally, it registered only 25 to 30 percent occupancy on opening day. Also, due to negative reviews and not-so-strong word of mouth, the occupancy declined on second day itself and the film minted approximately ₹5 crore.

On Sunday too, the business of the film didn't show promising growth, due to which the overall forst weekend performance is way below the mark.

Nonetheless, the film has four more days ahead of it to earn moolah from the box office, as it is the newest release. But for that, it has to hold a strong spot at the box office.

Mardaani

Rani Mukherji's action drama "Mardaani" had a strong second weekend. The film in its second weekend minted around ₹5.24 crore, taking its overall total to ₹28.21 crore.

Pradeep Sarkar's directorial film had a super strong Sunday and it's mainly due to its tax free status in three states. The tax free status in Maharashtra, UP and MP has helped the collection of the film in its second weekend.

Also, the poor performance of "Raja Natwarlal" has worked in the favour of "Mardaani" in India.

Singham Returns

Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer "Singham Returns" entertained audience in its third week as well. But due to new releases, the overall third weekend total remained low.

"Singham Returns" is the 11th highest grosser of Bollywood with total ₹137.9 crore nett income. The film is expected to more money in its third week as it is running in around 800 screens in India.

But the film might stop earning once Priyanka Chopra's "Mary Kom" hits theatres this Friday.
