Raja Natwarlal
Emraan Hashmi's "Raja Natwarlal," which had an average opening on first day, has failed to pick up on the second day despite enjoying a long weekend.
The con film collected ₹5.25 crore on Saturday (30 August) and took its two-day collections to ₹11 crore at the Indian box office, reported Koimoi.
The Hashmi starrer received mixed reviews from critics and kicked off on an average note on Ganesh Chathurthi day despite facing no competition from any other new releases. The film's collections were expected to see some growth on day 2, but its business failed to improve.
It remains to be seen as to how the film fares on Sunday. If it manages to pick up, it will be able to end the opening weekend on a decent note.
Moreover, it will also be interesting to see how the film fares during the weekdays. "Raja Natwarlal" will have only one-week time to do some decent business until the release of Priyanka Chopra's "Mary Kom," which will be hitting screens on 5 September.
"Mary Kom" is carrying positive pre-release buzz and the film is expected to pose a strong competition for "Raja Natwarlal."
Mardaani
Rani Mukerji's "Mardaani" had a slow start but the film has picked up owing to positive word of mouth. The crime thriller flick performed steady business in its second weekend till Saturday (30 August). It minted ₹2 crore on its second Saturday and its nine-day collections stand at over ₹26 crore at the domestic box office, according to Koimoi.
Considering the average performance of "Raja Natwarlal," "Mardaani" is expected to perform decent business for another week in India.
Singham Returns
Ajay Devgn's "Singham Returns" has turned out to be a huge hit at the box office. The film has managed to hold well even in its third weekend at the Indian box office. It has minted over ₹137 crore and is expected to continue doing steady business in its third week.
The action-packed entertainer is all set to surpass the ₹140-crore mark soon. However, it is doubtful whether the film will be able to join the ₹150 crore club which has eight films including "Dabangg 2", "Krrish 3", "Chennai Express", "Kick", "Dhoom 3", "Ek Tha Tiger", "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" and "3 Idiots."
