Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor starrer "Finding Fanny" had a decent opening in India. The opening day box office collection of "Finding Fanny" stands at ₹5.1 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.
"Finding Fanny" is a satirical English film, which has been directed by Homi Adajania. Considering its genre, the film caters mostly to niche audience, due to which the film performed well in multiplexes.
The film was released in very limited screens -- 900 screens -- in India and it was released in both English and Hindi. The English version witnessed more occupancy compared to Hindi version of the film.
The film is backed by positive review and is expected to show growth during weekends. The occupancy increased in the morning shows on Saturday and its evening shows are filling up fast. In several multiplexes in Mumbai and National Capital Region, the shows have gone housefull.
The box office collection of "Finding Fanny" is expected to increase by a big margin on Saturday and Sunday, considering the housefull status in major multiplexes.
Apart from Padukone and Arjun, the film also features Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapur in lead roles.
On the other hand, Basu starrer "Creature 3D" failed to pull the crowd on opening day at the box office. The film, which received mostly negative reviews for its storyline, could not do much at the box office on opening day.
The monster thriller raked in ₹3.24 crore from first day run at the domestic box office. "Creature 3D" film has larger number of screen count compared to "Finding Fanny", but Basu's film performed lower than Padukone's movie.
Directed by Vikram Bhatt, the film is not expected to show much growth since the reviews and word of mouth is not in the film's favour.
In overseas market also, the film has opened to dull response. The combined total of the UK, Australia and New Zealand opening day collection is around ₹3 lakh, according to Bollywood Hungama.
