Mahesh Babu's recently-released "Aagadu" has surpassed the worldwide opening weekend collections of Allu Arjun's "Race Gurram," Jr NTR's "Rabhasa" and Ram Charan's "Yevadu."

"Aagadu" has earned ₹27.6 crore share in its opening weekend at the worldwide box office, according to Andhraboxoffice. The film has failed to surpass the first weekend collections of Pawan Kalyan's "Attarintiki Daaredi," which had earned ₹33.56 crore. But, it has beaten the three-day collections of "Race Gurram" (₹22.53 crore share), "Rabhasa" (₹20 crore share) and "Yevadu" (₹21.65 crore share).

"Aagadu" took a grand opening on the first day at the AP/Nizam box office, but the film's collections have dropped from the second day due to mixed reviews. It had earned ₹16.6 crore share in the first weekend at the AP/Nizam box office.

However, the film has performed exceptionally well in the United States, where Telugu films have a huge market. As the film had registered huge collections (more than $1million) at the US box office, it noticed an increase in its worldwide total.

Meanwhile, "Aagadu" continues to witness drops in its collections during the weekdays. Considering a strong opening weekend, the action entertainer is expected to end the opening week on a decent note. It needs to be seen whether the film's business will pick up in its second weekend.

There were huge expectations for "Aagadu" prior to the film's release as director Srinu Vaitla and Mahesh Babu had teamed up for the second time after the 2012-blockbuster flick "Dookudu."

But it received mixed feedback with many citing that the action entertainer has nothing new to offer. Critics had stated that the first half was entertaining but the second half had similarities to "Dookudu."

"Aagadu" is Mahesh Babu's second release of the year after "1 Nenokkadine." The psychological thriller was critically-acclaimed, but it failed to set the cash registers ringing as audience were not impressed with it due to lack of entertainment quotient.

With "Aagadu," Mahesh has returned to doing a commercial entertainer with loads of action, comedy and punch dialogues. It remains to be seen whether the film will manage to achieve the hit status.
