In a surprise move, government of India has filed a case against Search engine giant Google for allegedly collecting "classified data" in violation of the National Map Policy 2005. A case has been registered against Google by Delhi Police following complaint by Survey of India in February 2013. Presently, CBI is probing the matter.The Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh has said this in a written response to a question in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
Google India Pvt Ltd, apparently without any approval of Ministry of Defence or any other agency of Government, conducted the Mapathon 2013 competition during February 12, 2013 to March 25, 2013 and collected data, including classified data, in violation of the National Map Policy-2005.
