Recently, it was confirmed that Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain" will be releasing ahead of his magnum opus, "Vishwaroopam 2", this year.
According to latest reports, the two films will be releasing in consecutive months. "Uttama Villain" is likely to be released for Dussehra in October. Latest we hear that "Vishwaroopam 2" might release in November.
"Vishwaroopam 2" producer Aascar Ravinchandran is planning to release the spy thriller three weeks after the release of Vikram-Shankar's big-budget film, "Ai", which is also funded by him. "Ai" is confirmed to release for Diwali this October. This could mean that "Vishwaroopam 2" might release in mid-November, according to Behindwoods. However, an official announcement regarding "Vishwaroopam 2" release date is yet to be made.
If the film hits the screens in November, it will be a real treat for Kamal fans who can enjoy watching their favourite star's films in successive months.
"Vishwaroopam 2", is a sequel to the 2013-blockbuster flick, "Vishwaroopam." The first part was a big hit and reportedly earned more than ₹100 crore at the box office. The stupendous success of "Vishwaroopam" has raised the expectations surrounding the sequel.
The film has Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Shekar Kapur, Rahul Bose, Waheeda Rahman and Ananth Mahadevan in pivotal roles. The music is composed by Ghibran of "Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah" fame.
Kama had started working on "Vishwaroopam 2" last year. The film's shooting has been completed, but post-production, which involves lot of CG work has delayed its release. Even as the post-production work is still going on, the versatile actor has completed shooting for "Uttama Villain."
Directed by Ramesh Aravind, "Uttama Villain" is touted to be a comedy drama with Kamal appearing in dual roles. The film will have Pooja and Andrea sharing screen space with the actor for the third time. K Vishwanath, K Balachander, Nassar, Urvashi, Jayaram, MS Bhaskar and Parvathy Menon also appear in pivotal roles in the film.
"Uttama Villian" story revolves around an ageing superstar. The film's shooting is wrapped up and it is also in the post-production stage.
Meanwhile, Kamal has shifted focus on his third project. The film, titled "Papanasam", is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster flick "Drishyam." Kamal will be playing the role of a father for two girls in the thriller family drama, while Gauthami will appear as his wife.
The film's shooting has already commenced and is expected to be wrapped up by October. It is not clear whether "Papanasam" will hit the screens this year or next.
