Ajay Devgn' starrer "Singham Returns" has received mixed reviews from critics. The film directed by Rohit Shetty is a sequel of 2011 movie "Singham".
"Singham Returns", which also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, is a typical Shetty's film filled with action scenes. But like other Shetty's films "Singham Returns" too is entertaining.

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama said: "Known for escapist entertainers like the GOLMAAL series, ALL THE BEST, BOL BACHCHAN and CHENNAI EXPRESS, Rohit does an about turn with the SINGHAM franchise. Besides, he and screenplay writer Yunus Sajawal add a dash of realism to reinvent the formula, but the focal point remains the same: Entertainment.
"On the whole, SINGHAM RETURNS is a complete mass entertainer with power-packed drama, hi-intensity dialogue and towering performances as its aces. The brand value attached to it coupled with a long weekend will help the film reap a harvest and rule the box-office in days to come. A sure-shot WINNER."
Mihir Fadnavis of Firstpost said: "Singham Returns is a sequel to Singham like Night Eyes 2 was a sequel to Night Eyes 3. It's the exact same film, with a bit more action. There is a bit of horror too, like Kareena Kapoor's acting and character development, and the computer graphics. Plus there are added layers of social commentary, moral science, women's empowerment slogans and existential angst."
Mohar Basu of Koimoi.com said: "Singham Returns scared the daylight out of me. No it wasn't a horror film, but it shocked me to see a Rohit Shetty film so devoid of fun. Singham Returns is a shabby replica of its earlier edition, working on the same contours, never stretching the plotline nor trying anything new. Rather, it deteriorates, frame by frame, turning into a tedious tirade.
"The impact was seldom there and never rises above the bar set by its prequel. Expect to be only half entertained because of Ajay Devgn whose zealous, rampant smacks and punches still has the gusto. Anyone who has the appetite for commercial potboilers can ingest this film, for others it is an attempt wasted."
Subramanian Harikumar of Bollywoodlife.com said: "While Singham Returns is a must watch for every Rohit Shetty fan as the director dishes out a typical masala film, the ones who look for emotional connection with films may stay away from this Independence Day release. Watch it if you have nothing else to do this weekend."
