Akshay Kumar, who has hardly worked with the biggest banners of the industry, has a reason to smile.

Of late, the actor has revealed that his next collaboration is with Karan Johar's Dharma Production in the upcoming project "Brothers", which also marks the "Khiladi" of Bollywood's first collaboration with the producer-director.

The self-made actor, with no godfather from the industry, who appeared in Johar's latest edition of the talk show "Koffee with Karan" was quite vocal regarding his initial days in the industry and mentioned that he had to depend on smaller banners as big ones never approached him.

Now it appears like Johar, who did many films with Shah Rukh Khan, has decided to move out of his comfort zone to join hands with other popular actors.  For instance, the producer-director recently roped in Salman Khan for his dream project "Shhuddhi" with whom he last worked in "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" (1998).

Kumar, who is excited about his association with Johar, tweeted:

Even Johar took to Twitter to announce about his next project.

Directed by Karan Malhotra, "Brothers" is the Hollywood remake of "Warrior". The film also stars Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff in crucial roles and is set to hit the theatres on 2 October 2015. Kumar and Malhotra will play the lead roles as brothers in the film.

Currently, the "Entertainment" star is busy with his tightly packed schedule. The actor is in Cape Town shooting for his dance reality show, "Dare to Dance" and is also busy with the post-production work of his upcoming film, "Shaukeen" (remake of 1982 release). Kumar also owns a Kabaddi team in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2014.

Meanwhile, Johar will start the shooting of his much-awaited project "Shuddhi" with Salman, which has been delayed for quite some time now.
