The opening weekend box office collection of Akshay Kumar's "Entertainment" was decent. Despite getting quite a few negative reviews from critics, the film managed to mint ₹36.69 crore in its foremost weekend from theatres in India.

"Entertainment Fri 11.16 cr, Sat 11.53 cr, Sun 14 cr. Total: ₹ 36.69 cr nett. India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted on Twitter.

On the opening day, the film got good response from audience and the occupancy increased during the evening and night shows. On second day too the trend was the same and the movie maintained a steady pace. It was only on Sunday when the film showed growth and minted ₹14 crore.

The business of the film increased during the weekend due to word of mouth. But when compared to Kumar's last release "Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty", "Entertainment" box office collection is ordinary.

Overall, the film managed to pull crowd during the weekend, despite Raksha Bandhan being celebrated across the country. But that's not all; the film has to maintain a steady pace during weekdays to end the first week with decent numbers.

With Ajay Devgn's "Singham Returns" releasing on Friday, "Entertainment" has only a few days to rake in decent amount from Indian theatres.

Meanwhile, Kumar's "Entertainment" opening weekend box office collection has shattered Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt's "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" (HSKD) third day total.

"HSKD" had same occupancy in theatres across country as "Entertainment". But since the film fared in only ₹9 crore on opening day, the three day total is lesser than "Entertainment".

"#HSKD surpasses ALL expectations and has a FANTABULOUS Sunday: Fri 9.02 cr, Sat 11.25 cr, Sun 13.46 cr. Total: ₹ 33.74 cr nett. India biz," Adarsh tweeted "HSKD" collection in July.

Seventh Highest Opening Weekend

The opening weekend collection of "Entertainment" is Kumar's seventh highest till now. The actor's "Rowdy Rathore" has the highest opening weekend collection with ₹48.30 crore, followed by "Housefull 2" with ₹42.50 and at third place is "Holiday" ₹41.32 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.

Surprisingly, Kumar's "Tees Maar Khan", which was declared a disaster at the box office, raked in ₹38.25 crore in its foremost weekend, which is more than the three day total of "Entertainment."
