The Independence Day holiday has benefitted Akshay Kumar's film "Entertainment" box office collection on its second Friday.

"Entertainment" earned ₹3.52 crore on the second Friday, despite facing competition from "Singham Returns" and "Kick". The film has now taken its nett domestic total to ₹60.02 crore.

On the eighth day, the film managed to maintain good occupancy in theatres across India due to the holiday. But it will be difficult for "Entertainment" to maintain the same occupancy during its second weekend, as Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer "Singham Returns" will give the Kumar starrer a tough competition.

"Singham Returns" opened with a roaring response on its opening day and minted ₹32 crore. Looking at the strong box office buzz combined with the positive response from the audience as well as critics, the Devgan starrer is expected to dominate the box office in the second week.

Meanwhile, "Entertainment" has registered itself as a semi-hit film and is now expected to take its lifetime total to around ₹70 crore. But considering Kumar's last film's performance, the Tamannaah starrer has underperformed.

With its declining pace at the box office, the film is also not likely to touch the ₹100 crore mark at the domestic collection centers.

Even trade analysts believe that the Kumar starrer's occupancy was comparatively lower than his last film "Holiday" and hence it fared only an average collection.

"'Entertainment' opened to a rather tepid response, continued to remain so; the film's word-of-mouth publicity reports were not very complimentary either so there was little hike over the Friday collections on Saturday," trade analyst Vinod Mirani told Financial Express.

"Entertainment" had an occupancy of about 50 percent pan India, while "Guardian of the Galaxy" had an average occupancy, according to distributor Rajesh Thadani.
