After Silk Smitha's untimely death, many film-makers tried to make films about her life. But one of them succeeded as her family was not keen on sharing the details.
Finally, it took Vidya Balan to play Silk in Dirty Picture. And the scintillating story of Silk Smitha which ended with her tragic death became a super hit and bagged many awards for the leading lady and the makers. Now, a Marathi movie is being made on the late Southern actress.
Known to be highly disciplined on the sets, Silk Smitha had many fans both within the industry and outside the industry.
Kannada actor and producer V Ravichandran fondly recalls Silk Smitha’s discipline on the sets during the making of Halli Meshtru.
Silk played a sexy village teacher in the movie and her song was a super hit at the time. Appearing on a popular Kannada TV chat show recently with actor Ramesh Arvind, Ravichandran revealed that his only regret was that he missed Silk Smitha’s last call to him just before her death.
