Ace director Krishna Vamsi at the teaser launch of Govindu...mentions about his film with mega star Chiranjeevi few years ago, which didn't materialise.
Industry sources claims it was a patriotic film 'Vandemataram' revolving around a fiery freedom fighter supposed to be played by Chiranjeevi and few years ago, the actor-director used to meet on the sets of 'Anji' to fine tune the script, but finally, Chiru kept the project in abeyance for various factors. 'It would have been a international project but my non-compromising attitude and other reasons, it didn't take off' disclosed director with glint of disappointment, without taking the name of the film.
May be, Chiru was not willing to take a risk, since patriotic themes, haven't been money-spinners. Later Venkatesh bit the dust with a patriotic film 'subhash chandra bose' and it looks like Chiru was right at that point of time? So Vamsi's dream to work with Chiu remain unfilled but he could salvage it by directing his son Ram Charan in Govindudu.
