Salman Khan's "Kick", which hit screens on 25 July, has been performing exceptionally well at the Indian as well as overseas box offices.

The film, directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, is a remake of Telugu film of the same name. The Telugu version, starring Ravi Teja, released in 2009. The flick was one of the biggest hits in Teja's career as well as in the Tollywood industry. The actor appears in the role of a guy, who does anything and everything in life to just get a kick.

Directed by Surender Reddy, "Kick" was well received by the audience for its comedy quotient as well as mass elements. With the action entertainer receiving fantastic response, the Ravi Teja starrer turned out to be a blockbuster film.

"Kick" reportedly grossed over ₹21 crore in 24 days and earned a share of more than ₹15 crore, reported Indiaglitz. The film was one of the biggest hits of 2009 along with other big Telugu releases including Ram Charan's "Magadheera" and Anushka Shetty's "Arundati."

Following the success of "Kick", the film was remade in Tamil as "Thillalangadi." However, the Tamil version, starring Jayam Ravi failed to set the cash registers ringing.

The film, which has been remade in Hindi with Khan playing the lead role, has received fantastic response from the audience.

The basic plot of the Hindi version and the Telugu version is the same, however there have been some changes made to the Khan starrer to cater to the Hindi-speaking audience. While the actor's fans are impressed with the film, director Surender Reddy of "Kick" (Telugu) fame, seems to be unhappy about the big budget entertainer.

In a Facebook post, the director expressed his disappointment with the Hindi version of "Kick." "Watched the Hindi remake Kick. It definitely does not do justice to our original movie or to Salman. Kick would have been the biggest movie ever for Salman if the makers understood the spirit of Kick," Reddy posted.

Meanwhile, Khan's film is doing grand business at the box office. The film has easily surpassed the box office collections of Telugu film "Kick" and minted over ₹50 crore in the first two days of its release. The film has turned out to be the biggest hit of 2014 so far. It is also the "Being Human" founder's first film to enter the ₹200 crore club. The action comedy entertainer has beaten the lifetime collections of other biggies like "3 Idiots" and "Ek Tha Tiger."

"Kick" has now emerged as the fourth highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. The film is expected to surpass "Chennai Express" lifetime figures soon. "Kick" is also doing good business in overseas markets with the film earning over ₹62 crore at the box office.
