Draco Malfoy: JK Rowling Reveals Back Story, Character and Adult Life of Harry Potter Antagonist

In the latest piece of her "12 Days of Christmas" series, JK Rowling, the "Harry Potter" author reveals great insights about the popular Harry Potter antagonist – Draco Malfoy.

All Potter fans have hated Malfoy throughout the series. The boy, who led an obnoxiously privileged life given his parents' statures at the ministry of Witchcraft and Wizardry, was apparently bought up to "believe he occupied an almost royal position within the wizarding community," Rowling writes.

Rowling also tells fans about the adult life of Draco Malfoy revealing that he marries the younger sister of Astoria Greengrass, a fellow Slytherin. Draco and Astoria have a son Scorpius and Astoria refuses to bring their child up with the same cruel and evil values his parents instilled in him.

"I imagine that Draco grew up to lead a modified version of his father's existence; independently wealthy, without any need to work, Draco inhabits Malfoy Manor with his wife and son," Rowling wrote.

"I pity Draco. Being raised by the Malfoys would be a very damaging experience, and Draco undergoes dreadful trials as a direct result of his family's misguided principles."

"All his life, he had idolized a father who advocated violence and was not afraid to use it himself, and now that his son discovered in himself a distaste for murder, he felt it to be a shameful failing," Rowling added.

Rowling also spilled her personal thought about Draco Malfoy's character. She said she felt "unnerved" that girls loved his "bad boy" image. She said that she attempted to show the world that Malfoy wasn't a brooding, hurting guy with a heart of gold inside, but was just as evil as his character was intended to be.

"Draco has all the dark glamour of the anti-hero; girls are very apt to romanticise such people. All of this left me in the unenviable position of pouring cold common sense on ardent readers' daydreams, as I told them, rather severely, that Draco was not concealing a heart of gold under all that sneering," she wrote.

"I argued that it was perfectly consistent with Draco's character that he would find it easy to shut down emotion, to compartmentalise, and to deny essential parts of himself... I was attempting to show that the denial of pain and the suppression of inner conflict can only lead to a damaged person," she added.

Rowling also added that she hopes Draco Malfoy brings Scorpius up "to be a much kinder and more tolerant Malfoy than he was in his own youth."

Bonus Facts – JK Rowling chose "Smart", "Spinks" or "Spungen" for Draco's surname before finally settling on Malfoy! Draco 'Spinks' sounds more like a Hufflepuff name, doesn't it?

Also Tom Felton, the actor who portrays Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, is ironically the nicest guy among the lot!

'The Hobbit' Steals the Show at the Box Office with $90.6 Million Collection

"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" won big at the box office.

The last instalment in director Peter Jackson's "Hobbit" trilogy made a massive $90.6 million since its release on Wednesday.

For its debut three-day weekend, the adventure flick earned $56.2 million at the box office in the United States and Canada. The film was shown at 3,875 locations. The figure is, however, less than what "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" had made in the same time frame ($84.6 million); while "Desolation of Smaug" had earned $73.6 million in the opening weekend.

"There have been six visits to Middle-earth, and this is the final one, and it became so important for people to come out to see this in a big way. The action was there, and Peter made a fabulous movie," said Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros. distribution executive vice president, Variety reports.

The franchise is based on J.R.R. Tolkein's fantasy novel.

The other releases of the weekend – "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" and "Annie" – did not even come close to the opening sales of "The Hobbit", which is released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and the New Line Cinema division of Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Bros.

Despite being released online before it officially hit theatres, Sony's "Annie" managed $16.3 million in its opening weekend.

"It was bold to go into this territory with 'Night at the Museum' and 'The Hobbit,' but there's something special about 'Annie'. We knew the picture itself would be the best marketing tool and we think that the word of mouth is going to spread," said Rory Bruer, Sony Pictures president of worldwide distribution.

Meanwhile, the third instalment of Ben Stiller starrer "Night at the Museum" made $17.3 million. It was way below estimates of $26 million. Robin Williams made his final appearance in "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb".

Sony will Eventually Release 'The Interview'

According to various media reports, Sony will eventually release "The Interview" but they are yet to decide through what medium they will do so.

"Sony has been fighting to get this picture distributed. It will be distributed. How it's going to be distributed, I don't think anybody knows quite yet. But it's going to be distributed," Sony lawyer David Boies said on 'Meet the Press' on Sunday morning, Time reports.

Sony Pictures CEO and Chairman Michael Lynton, at an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria, said that it was not Sony's decision to stall the release of the Seth Rogen and James Franco starrer comedy movie.

"The President, the Press, and the public are mistaken as to what actually happened. We do not own movie theaters. We cannot determine whether or not a movie will be played in movie theatres... when a threat came out from what was called the GOP at the time– threatening audiences who would go to the movie theaters, the movie theaters came to us one by one over the course of a very short period of time– We were completely surprised by it and announced that they would not carry the movie. At that point in time, we had no alternative but to not proceed with the theatrical release on the 25th of December," Lynton told Zakaria at CNN's 'GPS'.

U.S. President Barack Obama questioned the entertainment company 19 December as to why it did not approach him directly before cancelling the release of the movie. He further said that Sony "made a mistake" by doing so. Authorities and fans saw Sony's decision to hold the release of "The interview" as a weakness.

Meanwhile, the hackers who call themselves the Guardians of Peace or GOP praised Sony for cancelling the release of the comedy flick that is based on the assassination of North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jong-un.

Fans took to the social media to push for the release of "The Interview". Twitter user Robert Boseley wrote: "#NorthKorea SONY must release the movie. It must be shown in mass. NORTH KOREA? R U KIDDING? And please stop confusing cyber crap w/movie." Another user, Jessica Elgot wrote: "If only #Sony had some sort of media device in millions of homes that it could distribute this movie to, to make a stand for free speech..."

Talking about various options that the company can resort to in order to release the movie, CEO Lynton said, "There are a number of options open to us and we have considered those and are considering them. As it stands right now – while there have been a number of suggestions that we go out there and deliver this movie digitally or through VOD, there has not been one major VOD – video on demand distributor – one major e-commerce site that has stepped forward and said they are willing to distribute this movie for us. Again, we don't have that direct interface with the American public so we need to go through an intermediary to do that."

Madonna Releases Six New Songs Post Leak

Christmas has come early for Madonna fans, although for the singer, the celebration is bittersweet.

The 56-year-old Queen of Pop released six out of 19 tracks from her upcoming 13th studio album, Rebel Heart, after unfinished demos of several of them were leaked online this week, in a move that the singer called "artistic rape" and "a form of terrorism."

The songs were made available for purchase on iTunes on Saturday, five days before Christmas. One of them, titled "Bitch, I'm Madonna," features hip-hip star Nicki Minaj.

More tracks will be released on Feb. 9, according to a statement posted on Madonna's website.

"The decision to release the songs much earlier than anticipated was due to the leaking of several work-in-progress demos earlier this week," it said.

"I was hoping to release my new single 'Living For Love' on Valentine's Day with the rest of the album coming in the spring," the singer was quoted as saying. "I would prefer my fans to hear completed versions of some of the songs instead of the incomplete tracks that are circulating. Please consider these six songs as an early Christmas gift."

Her manager, Guy Oseary, had put out a plea to fans on Twitter in late November, saying, "I would be grateful to any @madonna fans that can assist us in finding those responsible for the leak.. We appreciate your help.."

It is unclear if he was referring specifically to the leaked album tracks.

The released tracks are:

3. "Ghosttown"

4. "Unapologetic Bitch"

5. "Illuminati"

6. "Bitch, I'm Madonna (featuring Nicki Minaj)

Rebel Heart contains explicit content and is set for release in its entirety on March 10, 2015.

'Captain America: Civil War' : Spider-Man's Introduction in Marvel Universe Scheduled in February?

Can Spider-Man join "Captain America: Civil War?" Following the controversial Sony hack, there is major speculation about Spider-Man's introduction in to the Marvel Universe. The leaked Sony emails have suggested that Sony and Marvel are interested in sharing the superhero and in all probability the latter wants to introduce Spider-Man in the civil war version of "Captain America."

Crossovers reportedly are the next step to keep any comic book based franchise going and a deal between Sony and Marvel for Spidey's introduction in "Captain America: Civil War" can still be made, according to Screen Rant. The future of the "Spider-Man" series has not yet been decided and with a summit planned for January; there are chances that a final decision about the series will be revealed.

Amy Pascal, Sony Pictures' co-chairman will be discussing the future plans of "Spider-Man" series with the honchos of the production house, according to the Website. It has also been reported that some concrete news about Spider-Man's introduction in the Marvel Cinematic Universe can come in February.

"Marvel would include an after-credits stinger that would centre on Spider-Man," a source revealed to Screen Gonzo. With the shooting for "Captain America: Civil War" scheduled in Feb-March, the timing of SpiderMan's introduction will be right.

Apparently, Marvel president, Kevin Feige, is "pleased" with the way the tie-up is happening between Sony Pictures and Marvel. "Captain America: Civil War" will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The duo has also been roped in to helm "The Gray Man" for Sony, as per the website's report.

Moreover, it is rumoured the Russo brothers will also be directing and writing the new "Spider-Man" trilogy for Marvel. The casting of the film is yet to be done. However, there is a list of potential actors, who according to Russo brothers can play the titular role, reports Josh Johnson of Screen Gonzo.

The official confirmation on Marvel's take over of "SpiderMan" franchise is yet to come.

Spider-Woman's New Costume: Spider-Man's Female Version Gets a Makeover

While the "Spider-Man" film franchise has been dogged by controversies, Marvel comics has released a new costume for Spidey's female counterpart. The costume is set to debut in the "Spider-Man Unlimited" mobile game, which will be available for all the mobile platforms.

Kris Anka has designed the new suit for Spider-Woman, which features a pair of black leather leggings, red jacket and a pair of red and golden goggles. Till now Spider-Woman wore red spandex costume.

"As much as I'm a fan of spandex and it has its time and place, I felt Jess as a character could move away from that for a good long while," Spider-Woman editor Nick Lowe told USA Today.

The refreshed version of Spider-Woman will also be seen in her solo comic book series. The new costume is being considered more functional.

Meanwhile, there is major buzz in regard to the solo Spider-Woman movie. A few months back, reports had suggested that Gwen Stacey, who was killed in "Amazing Spider-Man 2" could make a return in a spin-off as Spider-Woman.

According to "Edge of Spider-Verse," second issue -- a five-part mini-series -- a spider bites Stacey instead of Peter Parker. She uses her power to gain a stand in the world as Spider-Woman, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. Parker tries to experiment on himself and turns into a lizard. He later dies and Spider-Woman is blamed for his death.

Though there is no word on the spin-off yet, it will be interesting to see the whole new world of Spider-Woman if Sony plans to go ahead with it.
